Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

Chewbacchus (the epic Mardi Gras nerd parade) is coming up, and usually I'm so excited. It's a high point of my year. But the state of our country is killing the typical joy I feel. Instead, I feel guilty for celebrating in the midst of a cataclysm.

I'm thankful for all of the stars shining in the current darkness. Let's keep shining together. And have faith and hope that our love will one day eclipse the darkness. Let's choose to live into Martin Luther King Jr's legacy today, and in the days to come.

This is Penny. But she goes by many names - Penner, Penn, bitchacha, beebee. She's one of our two adopted puppers. Penn is 18, and is deaf and mostly blind. But watch out - she's a wily one! And we love her dearly.

This is Harry, one of our two adopted puppers. My hubby calls him Hot Wheels Harry. He's a paraplegic pup just over a year old, and he's the happiest good boy you'll ever meet! We're so lucky to have him as part of our family.
