Just here to make friends and have fun! Oh, and to stare into the void.

Mostly my garden and project journal, tbh.
My coven- I mean, BOOKCLUB is meeting to discuss Shirley Jackson's final masterpiece We Have Always Lived in the Castle.

So I made Blackberry Buckle- with a generous layer of sugar on top. #booksky #baking

I got this amaryllis kit on clearance at the hardware store and it looks like it should bloom pretty soon.

I had a gorgeous one last year I tried to reuse, but i guess it doesn’t work if they’re the wax-covered ones. #flowers #bloomscrolling

Very assumed that Mildred Pierce is treading.

Personally, I think Joan Crawford’s best acting is when she’s describing how she’s going to set up her restaurant, cut out waste, etc.

I completely believe her as a competent businesswoman. I think it might be the true Joan.

Our Mari Lwyd went on an outing for New Years- but this time she brought commemorative ornaments to the (un)lucky households.

I made a lemon pig because I had all the stuff and because they inexplicably annoy my husband.

He’s a very juicy pig so we‘ll see how long he lasts.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! #lemonpig

Getting some mending projects done. This dark blue sweater dress is very pretty (if hard to photograph) but really let down by the cheap buttons.

I swapped them out with these antique ones. It’s fun to wonder how many different pieces of clothing they’ve been on over the century.

Picked up this astonishing soup tureen from the local Buy Nothing group for a friend- and gave away 5 pairs of woolly baby socks.

Yesterday was the 6th Day of Christmas, so it’s my Goose A-Laying.

My favorite part of Garfield Park Conservatory’s Winter Flower Show (“Merry & Bright”) were these fuzzy little green plants.

They’ve got tiny red berries on them, like miniature Christmas trees. #plants

It would be neat to lookup into the night sky and see THIS strolling among the stars.
Oh to be a little Tardigrade walking across a microscopic slide. 🫧🐻🧪

We thought it would be cute to add some fun novelty items into Christmas Crackers but opening up one end of the cracker and poking a little gadget inside the cinched paper was some unexpected Cronenberg body horror.

Thinking about cross stitching Black Philip on my new apron because baking always involves butter and I like to live deliciously.

It’s done! I LOVE the way it turned out.

Now to convince myself I don’t need to shorten the skirt, add cuffs, etc to make it even cuter.

Got a gross cold, but I have developed a god-tier cup of tea for the occasion!

One pinch Ahmad Special Blend
One pinch Coffee and Tea Exchange Mulled Wine Black Tea
Two slices of lemon
A few generous squirts of (local orchard, in this case) honey

My kid has a nasty cold right now (he’s on the mend) and I was thinking about how just a few generations ago, you’d worry that your sick child might actually die due to communicable diseases like whooping cough, measles…

oh, wait.

Whamicide! Whammed by my own hand. Having a snuggly morning listening to Christmas carols on the sofa.

Good thing I play to lose.

Happy Winter Solstice, everyone!

On the longest night of the year, I like to watch the live feed of dawn at Stonehenge. (Or watch the replay in the morning.)

Sometimes there are mummers or green men, but it’s always magical.

My advent calendar this year (I prefer paper calendars; they're always fun and never overwhelming) is by a German artist on Etsy.

Each day is a different famous book. My favorite so far is Kafka‘s Metamorphosis. Adorable!

“It has been remade.”

Remade in single crochet, with a smaller hook, and tighter fit since his sweaters all seem to stretch out as the dog wears them.

Soundtrack: mostly Heather Cox Richardson

I am THRILLED with this. I was afraid the blue was too bright, but it looks great (there‘s a lot of dress). I’m excited to do the other side and wear it.

(Excuse the wrinkles, this waste canvas has a lot of starch or something that needs to be rinsed off)

Weird, but the dog has a marked preference for the blue sweater. He’d growl if you tried to take it off him.

So I frogged this autumnal sweater (mostly hdc) and I’m remaking it with all single #crochet with a smaller hook.

A large coffee can makes a pretty good yarn bowl.
