Jesus’ kingdom emerges whenever love stands between harm and the vulnerable. In this reign of compassion, we discover true belonging and are invited to join God’s work—encircling others with courage, welcome, and justice so the kingdom becomes visible here and now.

It can feel like our world is crumbling. Jesus invites us into a different rhythm—one where we are gathered by love, nourished by grace, and sent to serve in a kingdom that will never crumble. Here we are called to love and serve all people with boldness and compassion.

On September 11, 2001, the community around Gander International Airport in Newfoundland found themselves face-to-face with a moment that would challenge them. When all planes were grounded that were bound for a destination in the United States, 38 planes carrying about 7,000 people were forced to land in Gander. How were they to face this moment? How does their experience enlighten our own as we meet moments of our lives with love and faith in the God of the living?

On Reformation Sunday, we remember Martin Luther’s courage to ask, “What is true?” — and we renew our own calling to seek truth that challenges us but also sets us free. Pastor Jeff reflects on faith, history, and the Spirit’s ongoing work to reform hearts and communities today.

Sometimes, life feels like a tug-of-war between what we hope for and what is. Between wanting peace and being pulled back into struggle. In those moments, I’m reminded that wrestling — whether with God, with others, or within ourselves — isn’t a sign of failure. It’s often the very place where grace shows up. This sermon reflects on how persistence and perseverance keep us connected, grounded, and becoming who God calls us to be.
