I know my teen daughter is sick and ear infections are really painful but her full on “Valley of the Dolls” moment where she dramatically threw her bottle of antibiotics at me because they’re not working fast enough would have tickled my late GBF but at this moment, I am not amused.

The bad news is that the flu has hit our house (just 1 sick so far🙏). Good news is I made a nice chicken stock and turned that into a simple but delicious chicken soup. Was out of all noodles except a couple lasagna noodles, broke them up and threw them in the pot, Voila! Rustic noodles!🤌

I have a gumbo question. I am a purist and have only made it from scratch with an oil/flour roux. I’m considering toasting the flour in the oven as I’ve heard that a good way to make a roux with less oil. Has anyone else tried this? How did you like it? Do you add any oil/butter at another 1/2

I can’t figure out how to share the video from FB but I saw an alternative to s’mores that makes me even more excited for 🔥season! Put a baby bell cheese on a roasting stick, lightly scorch in the fire, put on crackers with pepper jelly. I can’t do s’mores, too sweet but melty cheese! 😋🧀🍇🥖🍷🔥

I just made a yummy creamy potato and leek soup for my mom (had cataract surgery yesterday, went well). I think I’ll make a mushroom soup next if I can catch my vendor at the farmers market this Saturday. 🍄

I wish I could read this full article. This is right up my alley! I wonder if they will incorporate medicinal properties of herbs and spices as well and how to incorporate that into food or even teas. I’ve studied this informally for 20+ years.

After a completely bananas order mishap resulting in getting 7! bunches of bananas (not 7 bananas) I made a double batch of banana bread. It smells delicious and I’m doing my part to manifest the cool weather by baking!

So my daughter just informed me that lots of kids at her school (including 2 on her wrestling team) are sick with Covid. And because the school is an academic magnet it’s hard for students make up when they miss days so they just come to school sick. 😳
