On the surface, So Thrilled For You by @hollybourne.bsky.social is a tense tale about four friends navigating their 30s — marriage, sexuality, friendships, and everything else — but underneath, it's an unflinching, visceral take on motherhood and womanhood. A true horror story. Out in January.

Went to get some acupuncture for stress and the lady literally struggled to get the needles in. They kept popping out like Pop Up Pirate cos I'm so tense. I'm sure it's fine

Present Tense Me is really pissed off with Past Tense Me for writing such a shitty first draft. Why is editing SO HARD? Why are first drafts SO BAD?

Another absolutely brilliant and eye opening read from @hollybourne.bsky.social @hodderfiction.bsky.social . #ThrilledForYou is about the back breaking exhaustion of early motherhood, pregnancy and the anxiety of choosing to stay child free when everyone around you is moving on. Spectacular work

Is there anything more anxiety-inducing in a noise-phobic person than new neighbours moving in next door? I'm basically convulsing and googling 'soundproofing' and they're not even here yet

I think woman from their twenties up will recognise and identify with at least one of the characters in #SoThrilledForYou by @hollybourne.bsky.social. Set over the course of an intense baby shower during a heatwave, the book rotates through four points of view.

Another excellent novel by @hollybourne.bsky.social
Actual tears were cried.
📚Greatly appreciating that Holly Bourne exists. Making it my mission to get her on the English curriculum. I've already told my kids that "Girlfriends" will be mandatory reading before they are allowed to attend a party/festival. Also: deeply uncomfortable reflections on my own teenage years.

I've been re-reading Gone Girl and, holy moly, is that book good. Achingly brilliant. The way Flynn plays on nightmarish gender royals in heterosexual relationships is beyond a chef's kiss.

Now Florence Pugh has been diagnosed with endometriosis, the Times asked me to write about the two decades it took me to get care, and why it's so vital endometriosis EXPERTS treat women whenever possible, not just general gynaes. www.thetimes.com/life-style/c....
Like Florence Pugh, my endometriosis went undiagnosed for years

Niche things I'd love to connect about:
- How much I'm genuinely enjoying Rings Of Power
- How Adam Brody's acute sexiness distracts from the fact 'Nobody Wants This' is pretty problematic and not fab
- Do you slow blink to your cat to test if it loves you and let that determine your self-worth?

My mum complained to me about the new 'artistic direction' they've taken in The Mirror And The Light.
"They've got Damian Lewis narrating everything which is a bit weird."
Turns out she has unknowingly watched the first two episodes with audio description on.
