Students kicked off a new unit on disabilities by exploring how people with disabilities were treated from ancient times to the 19th century. After researching their eras, they became “Town Criers,” sharing what they learned and reflecting on fairness, inclusion, and progress.

Our Multiple Access Points Program (MAPP) is on full display here as ASL specialists work with our special education students! MAPP is key to our commitment to inclusive education, focusing on developing essential life skills, self-advocacy, and vocational competencies.

📚 We’re thrilled to return to Battle of the Books, Gallaudet University’s Youth Programs reading competition that inspires literacy for deaf and hard of hearing students in grades 5–8. It’s been a few years since we’ve participated, and this team can’t wait to dive back in!

We took a wonderful trip into the Charlestown community to visit the @bpl.boston.gov! 📍 Students successfully led the navigation using their map skills and teamwork, and they all applied for new library cards! We love connecting learning with our local community. See you soon, BPL!

The wild came to HMS again this year! 🦅 Our middle schoolers loved learning from Jack Banagis of New England Wildlife Center & meeting some of their incredible rescue animals. We're so grateful for our continued partnership w/ NEWC & the amazing work they do for local wildlife.

We were honored to host Sara Nović, Deaf author of "True Biz!" She shared amazing insights into the challenges of writing a book and offered great advice for our future authors. By highlighting Deaf Gain, she showed students that their unique experiences are powerful strengths.
