My new years resolution is to keep telling stories. Whether it be through running ttrpgs for my friends or maybe I finally sit down and write that novel I've been outlining for two decades. Or both. Who knows.

The older I get, the less interest I have in participating in fandom spaces. Everyone is miserable all the fucking time. No one actually enjoys things anymore. Everyone is just watching to make content off their reactions and farm rage bait when THEIR expectations aren't fulfilled to the letter.

My best friend in the entire world gifted me the #Daggerheart core box for the holidays. It's likely the last gift she'll ever give me, as she has terminal cancer and is already on borrowed time. She wants me to "keep telling stories". I genuinely can't think of a better gift she could have given me

I grabbed AC: Shadows on sale, so potentially hot take incoming. I'm only a few hours in, but it's so far the most fun I've had with the series since Origins. It's some of the best stealth in the series so far, and the world is absolutely gorgeous. 1/2

Two days ago, i rolled credits on Ghost of Yōtei. What a phenomenal game. It took everything I loved about Ghost of Tsushima & improved on it. Erika Ishii as Atsu was *incredible*. A journey that I will remember for years to come & has definitely earned its way into my top 10.

Here's the thing, even if you remove the environmental impact and the fact that Gen AI is literally theft and making users dumber; it doesn't actually generate income. It doesn't generate jobs. It doesn't improve workflows in any meaningful way. 1/2

My two favorite directors of all time are Guillermo Del Toro & Hayao Miyazaki. Both of their filmographies have shaped my love for telling stories & my love of art. They are both also staunchly anti Gen AI. Visionary directors who's works focus the human nature and all of its beauty and flaws.

I genuinely hope that E33 losing its Indie Game Awards and the backlash that Larian has been getting show the games industry at large that gamers do NOT want Gen Ai in our games. Of course, there are AI bros who don't care. But the outcry has been LOUD this past week or so. I hope it stays that way.
As a disabled trans person trapped in a deeply red state, I am so fucking tired. I genuinely can't imagine how PoC, especially queer and trans PoC, are feeling. This fucking nation is a hellscape and a joke.

I am so disappointed in Larian for their Gen AI use, but also the members of the community who are trying to give them a pass for it. Gen Ai is theft. It's built & trained off stolen art. They claim no Gen ai will be in the final game, but everything they've built off of is using stolen art.
