Just a ghost, trapped in a monkey, hurtling through the universe on a rock. Like everybody else.

Expect plenty of stuff around the big underrepresented issues, such as inequality, climate change and other systemic problems…and a fair bit of culture babble

They warned us, “If you tax private schools it’ll mean more students entering the state system, costing the taxpayers more!”

The ‘they’ in this scenario are wealthy people.

Be wary of negative reactions to policies that hurt the wealthy.

Especially around tax, climate change, and regulation.
No exodus to state sector after VAT added to private school fees, say English councils
Most say they have seen no impact on applications for year 7 places, despite warnings from those against policy

Just ensuring the government actually collected the taxes that are owed would bank enough money to close the poverty gap.

Just shutting down tax evasion would bank the US a trillion dollars.

This 1000 times.

This is the real problem with our stagnant economy.

Thank you @nickmckim.bsky.social. Perfectly put.

There are many millions of us (rational people) thinking exactly the same way.

Trump is capitalism in human form. He’s overseeing a plutocracy and is a disaster for humanity.

I can be as critical as anyone of the government's occasionally muddled message on growth but Look! At! This! Chart!! Anything they've done pales next to this GIGANTIC UNFORCED ERROR COMMITTED IN 2016!

What is hypernormalisation? What is Corporatism?

The billionaires are controlling the information we take in.

America has become a plutocracy and the billionaires are positioning themselves to keep it that way.

Building a community is the only way out of this.

The billionaires are winning. They have us punching downwards rather than upwards. Towards dinghy’s not yachts.

Our political debate should centre around economic inequality, but instead it is being deliberately centred (by Musk, Trump, Farage and the Populists around the world) around immigration.

There are various types of Oligarchy (as we can see from @jesscraven101.bsky.social great explanation👇🏻)

As America swore in their new billionaire president, surrounded by the world’s richest billionaires, declaring to “drill baby drill” for big oil firms, the US has descended into full Plutocracy 🥲

These people, who have stolen an extra $2,000,000,000,000 last year, have convinced you that you have less money because of other poor people.

It's time to wake up. This is class warfare.

Your enemy is not coming by a small boat, they're coming by private jet.

So should he be locked up at night in a cage in order to keep the public safe, (uh, I’m pretty sure that’s ‘prison’ in a nutshell), or should he be allowed to become the most powerful person in the entire world?

Which is it?

He surely cannot be both of these things.

They’re not even in office yet and Trump is already invading Greenland, Musk is polling his followers about taking over the UK, Trump fancies Panama, wants to send troops into Mexico, whilst inexplicably renaming the Mexican Gulf as ‘the American Gulf’, and is considering merging Canada into the US.
I can't believe that Trump is essentially talking about invading Greenland and everyone is behaving like this is totally fucking normal

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%.

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?
The typical Fortune 500 CEO had already made more money by January 2nd than the average US worker will make this entire year.

Politicians are ‘idea salesmen’ or ‘narrative retailers’.

The left needs a powerful orator, an energetic, charismatic salesman, with a grip on language and a concise and clear pitch.

The right has that in Farage, or Trump.

It’s time for a new story (ideally about inequality and climate change)
