I want to know - what is the coolest museum program that you’ve attended or heard about? (In-person, virtual, or outreach).

Not sure how, but I’ve been a teacher for a whole decade!

Once upon a time, way back in 2020, I saw a tweet that inspired me to do a webinar on virtual museum ed. I thought maybe 10 people would come. 500 signed up 🤯 Now here I am teaching this four week course for the fifth year in a row! Here is the link for more info: www.museumstudy.com/creating-vir...

Do we have the technology to create ebook/audiobook combos that are synced so that I can be reading my ebook and then pick right up from the same page while listening to the audiobook in my car? Because that’s what I want.

(And a library with a rolling ladder, obviously.)

I read 5 books in April! (And I’m currently in the middle of two more audiobooks, 2 ebooks, and 1 paper book 😅)

Shout out to my amazing local library for providing free access to all of the audiobooks and ebooks, plus lots of physical books my kids have checked out right now!

I had the honor of creating Girl Museum’s latest podcast episode and I focused on the diaries of two young women in college in the 1920s and 1940s. Reading about their experiences and the historical context was so fascinating. creators.spotify.com/pod/show/gir...

The photos are the actual diaries.

Just remembered that at the end of 3rd grade, my class and teacher were sad that we would miss each other over break so we picked a day to meet at the park that summer. Guess who showed up? Me. And literally no one else, not even the teacher. I think this says a lot about me, but I’m not sure what.

I wish I could give every current and living former president, as well as every current congress member, all 10 of the AP history and social science exams. I am just really, really curious to see how they would do.

Take a look at the list below. Do we want to risk losing important historical artifacts/priceless artwork to environmental issues/fires/theft? Do we want to see museums closing? Do we want to get rid of history projects? Do we want to cancel a reading program that 29k Michiganders participate in?

A student in my US History class this morning was so excited to tell the class about Cory Booker and connect it to our recent study of the Civil Rights Movement. The passion in this student’s voice was inspiring. Proud teacher moment.

Some good news: it officially sounds like Spring. I can hear the frogs chirping outside my bedroom window and it is so peaceful.

The nightmare continues. Just read the proclamation titled “RESTORING TRUTH AND SANITY TO AMERICAN HISTORY” and I’m ready to start a modern-day version of the monuments men. I’m very worried about not only the Smithsonian, but also the Library of Congress and the National Archives.

Does anyone remember reading the “texts from last night” website back in like 2009? I feel like that’s what I wake up to every morning when I read the news, except it’s way more insane stuff than drunk college kids were getting up to.

A random thing that still cannot wrap my brain around is wireless charging. It blows my mind every time I set my phone in the little charging compartment in my car.

I don’t understand the goal of this paragraph in the executive order to dismantle the department of education. This statement makes it sound like the staff at the office of federal student aid is more efficient than the staff at Wells Fargo, and that that is a bad thing? Explain it to me like I’m 5.

Take a quick glance at the list below and you’ll likely recognize some beloved places in Michigan and nearby. These are just some of the amazing places that have received IMLS grant funding in the past 5 years. Call your reps and urge them to save IMLS! #museums #libraries

Influenza A and B both get zero stars from me. Do not recommend at all. Not for children nor adults. We all got our flu shots and made it through most of the winter flu-free. But now have double flu and it is horrendous.

Sending important emails today. I’m sure E.M. will be very excited about my accomplishments, though I don’t work for the federal government.

Our calendar features a different interesting/silly holiday each day. My 4 year old loves to see what each day is. When your mom is a history and biology educator, you get quite a lecture on February 12 😅 She totally got it though - “yeah, some birds have long beaks and some have short beaks.” ❤️

My favorite thing to see while scrolling FB is the support for the amazing Barcelona-style bakery and pizzeria in my area. The master baker, who moved here from Spain, posts the kindest things along with photos of his beautiful foods. The community goes wild with love every time. Food unites us 💜🍰🍕

It’s really frustrating that my favorite childhood author’s entire personality is hate now.

Needed a change in my work station set up, specifically closer to a sunny window because January has been 😵‍💫

(Ignore the smudges on my computer screen, I have small children.)
