Re-upping as the Security Council is meeting once again to discuss potential rehatting of the MSS into a UN peacekeeping mission. It is worth remembering that there are other options to address a funding shortfall, e.g., the delivery of a support package funded through UN assessed contributions.
The devil is in the details, but #peacekeeping and enforcement are not interchangeable. Transition should not be pursued primarily for financial reasons (as in Mali & CAR), and a UN PKO should not be deployed to undertake offensive operations in support of the host government. #Haiti [1/3]
