Vintage postcard of Howard University's Main Building, one of the first buildings constructed after the university's founding in 1867. It survived as a classroom and administration building until the 1930s and was torn down to make way for Founders Library (1939).

George Harrison releases “My Sweet Lord” 55 years ago today.

“I’ve met so many listeners across the years who said it made them feel peaceful for 3 minutes,” he said. “It made spirituality feel like something you could sing along to while driving a car or washing dishes. That’s all I ever wanted.”

Good deep dive into DOGE.
• Ramaswamy version would’ve been something like Clinton/Gore “reinventing government” project
• Musk version was smash everything fast & see what happens
• Vought version is most strategic & long game eradication of big chunks of Fed Gov

So much of the lead up to today reminded me of the old WWE wrestling rivalries that drew huge ratings.

How useful is this sort of doomerism in actually changing policies?

Good long read on how the “everything bagel” approach the Biden WH took on electric car chargers suffocated the program - and the surprising results from Trump WH giving up on trying to kill the program.

One more op-ed on White House Ballroom plans!

But it includes an odd retort that complaints about lack of process don’t account for the due process used to raze SW DC, build the brutally ugly FBI Building & build the Frank Gehry Memorial (featuring Ike).

Good read by local expert!
For 125 years, the preservation of the White House has functioned as an agreement between the influential and the powerful, with no accountability.

When Donald Trump demolished the East Wing, he showed once again how unconstrained the Presidency really is.
White House Architecture Was an Honor System. Trump Noticed.
For 125 years, informal norms constrained what a president could do to one of the nation’s most famous landmarks.
