Please remind children not to play or climb on snowbanks along roads and sidewalks. Snowbanks can hide traffic and snow-clearing equipment, and collapse without warning. Crews are working hard to clear streets safely. Help us keep everyone safe by choosing play areas away from roads.

Municipally-owned and operated rec facilities will be closed on Jan. 26. A decision will be made later in the day regarding whether rentals, facilities and programming activities will continue as scheduled on Jan. 27.

Sled safely this winter. Municipal parks aren’t set up, inspected or maintained for sledding & obstacles can be hiding beneath the snow. Sledding in parks is at your own risk. No matter where you sled, be sure to wear a helmet & watch for hazards like trees, rocks, fences, benches & play equipment.

Effective January 2026, multi-district facilities will be included in the Recreation Access Program. Previously, these facilities operated their own affordable access programs. New facilities include:
- Canada Games Centre
- Cole Harbour Place
- St. Margarets Centre
- Zatzman Sportsplex

Due to anticipated high winds and heavy rain, the Halifax Public Gardens, including the Holiday Light Show, will close today, Friday, Dec. 19, at 4 p.m. They are expected to reopen Saturday morning when conditions allow.
