From Build Nova Scotia: The Shaw Wilderness Park trail from the parking lot to the dam site is now open. The trail was closed temporarily to accommodate work to replace the Williams Lake Dam. This marks the end of work on site for this year. Work will resume in the spring to replace the dam.

The brand new Middle Musquodoboit Park (12360 Highway 224) is now open! The playground has a spray feature, barrier-free pathways, an inclusive swing, and musical/sensory play elements. Accessible benches and a picnic table make it a space for everyone to enjoy!

From Build Nova Scotia: The Shaw Wilderness Park parking lot and the trail from the parking lot to the dam site will be temporarily closed beginning Monday, September 22, with an anticipated reopening Friday, October 17. The closure is to accommodate work to replace the Williams Lake Dam.

The Cole Harbour Splash Pad (609 Colby Dr, Cole Harbour) and Shirley's Splash Pad (Dartmouth Commons) are now closed for the season due to the current mandatory water restrictions. All other splash pads in the municipality are scheduled to close for the season as usual on Sept 15. brnw.ch/21wVHM0

A new playground is open at William King Elementary School Park in Herring Cove – just in time for back to school! Inclusive design, fun for ages 2+ and play panels that spark curiosity in STEM/STEAM. Funded by the municipality w/ support from @nsgov Communities, Culture, Tourism & Heritage grant.

In Nov 2021, Halifax Solid Waste began enforcement of new illegal dumping regulations. Staff enforce enhanced measures related to illegal dumping and litter, including in parks. Household litter does not belong in parks. Penalties range from $200-$10K. www.halifax.ca/home-propert...

While the municipal Open Air Burning By-law allows campfires in wooded areas, this does not apply to the region's parks. The Parks By-law clearly states that there are to be no campfires at any time. Learn more at:
