Piss! Of all the useless shit that could have slid out the cupboard as I was rummaging, it had to be the thermometer.

I've never tried the 8e or the v3, but have tried the v4 kob, and for me it didn't live up to its fluffed up reputation. I then tried the v2 with the aperture tab and its been a great match for me. Plus v2&3's seem to be significantly cheaper than any other versions here, relative to Leica that is.
