I'm shocked that he has opened debate on the moratorium. Why do that when he knows it is a non-starter and an insult to Coastal First Nations who have accepted a future of up to 600 tankers of LNG each yr. Bitumen is too risky and will never be agreed to by First Nations.

Carney knows most Coastal First Nations will not stand for alteration to the tanker moratorium so encouraging Smith is very odd. The Hecate Strait is the most dangerous body of water on the Canadian coast and 4th most dangerous in the world. AB can expand the Trans Can shipments and avoid a battle.

Taxes help to keep democracies strong, by supporting those in need and bringing people together in support of fair governance. Losing your home due to illness is not what should happen in a fully-formed democracy. Seeing billionaires influence elections is antithetical to democratic values.

I wish he was also facing recall efforts. That his conflict of interest is not acknowledged fits with the rest of the government actions.

"In BC’s Great Bear Rainforest, a study by CREST and Stanford University found that bear-viewing tourism generated 12 times more revenue than trophy hunting, supporting 510 jobs compared to just 11 from hunting. Protecting one bear creates a renewable source of income for a community."
Our latest piece, β€˜Rewilding the Economy: Can Ecotourism Reconnect People and Planet?’, discusses how shifting even a fraction of public funding away from extraction and toward ecosystem protection would yield enormous social and economic returns.

We live in a cruel world. People just need to take the time to go to an abattoir, then decide if meat is for them.

I went through the same process with 32 year old beauty. Crushing goodbye, but he went while snoring with me holding his head. The hardest goodbyes are made easier with hugs and apples.

That is a shocking diagnosis. Hang in there, be good to yourself, and give yourself time to find some peace each day.

Love him or hate him, James Carvile suggests that the French Revolutiin is in the American wind. "With all the rage, we must also have a bold, simple policy plan." Raise the minimum wage, free college tuition, run on a platform of seismic economic scale.

I hope Australia succeeds. Bullying misogyny, violence. Kids should be free to be kids and return to activities like reading and playing outside.

Australia's social media ban for kids under 16 - how will it work?
The world-first law aims to reduce the "risks" children face online - but it's received pushback.

What wealthy people could do if they stopped throwing money around and took a lesson from MacKenzie Scott. Buying art at ridiculous prices is a symptom of what is wrong in society. Too much money in the hands of too few.

Read this for insight into the appalling "peace plan" offered to Ukraine. It is a plan for surrender by Ukraine while increasing the threat of war in Europe.
This is not a peace plan. It is a proposal that weakens Ukraine and divides America from Europe, preparing the way for a larger war in the future. In the meantime, it benefits unnamed Russian and American investors, at the expense of everyone else.

An excellent article by Tom Nichols, describing Trump as cornered, terrified, and irrational.

Trump said it for all to hear, that Khadhoggi's life was worth nothing and that his murder was not worth acknowledging. This is what evil looks like.

I agree. Pigs are sweet-natured and much smarter than Trump.

A nurse shared emails that reveal the cushy treatment provided by the warden to Maxwell. An interesting peek into Maxwell's preferential treatment, unheard of for a sex offender of her caliber. Commutation is in the cards.
