"Autumn in Motion"- Cool currents, warm tones, and a reminder that nature’s pretty good at cheering us up!

"Tanglewood" - Wild, tangled, and wonderfully chaotic — that’s the style of these mighty oaks. Add in that warm, gentle autumn light and, well… there’s no way I’m walking past without taking a photo (or two or three...)!
Best to ya!

Turning reality into abstract art is how I best describe water reflection photography. Humans are wired to perk up when we see patterns or balanced shapes. Reflections are the ultimate expression of symmetry. And with the right composition, reflections lend themselves to a bit of mystery.

"Autumn's Serpentine Passage" - How about some morning vibes from the Klickitat River Canyon,WA? No doubt I am enamored by oak trees. Their gnarled bark, sweeping limbs, and sculpted leaves make them wonderfully photogenic. Add in some fog and some real magic happened.

"October’s Silence" - As the fog lifted in the Okanogan-Wenatchee Nat'l Forest, what was a dark and gray, turned into a hillside ablaze with color! It's moments like this that bring so much fun to my photographic journeys.

"Mirror of the Season" - Nestled in the Cascade Mountains of Washington, Nason Creek becomes a quiet haven for fall color — and on rare, windless mornings, the surface turns to glass.

Time to post some autumn color! From above, this creek bottom looks alive — water weaving through golden vegetation. Although initially divided, flowing water all comes together creating nature's own abstract art.

"Harvest Glacier" - Bathed in the glow of a full harvest moon, Mount Shuksan stands like a silent guardian of the night—its icy crown shimmering beneath the celestial spotlight. This is certainly going to be an autumn memory I will have for a long time. #landscaspephotography

"Fairy Falls" - A silky curtain of water, draped in emerald vegetation and crowned with sunlight. A short recent visit to the Columbia Gorge was certainly a nice way to end the summer!
Cheers!

"Autumn's Embrace" -Autumn is here—cue the crisp mornings, golden leaves, pumpkin-flavored-everything, and that serious urge to seek out all the flannel shirts and sheets! #landscapephotography #fallcolors

"Glacial Smoothie" Glacial runoff from the Cascades (WA), turn rivers into this magical turquoise, minty smoothie look because glaciers are basically giant, slow-moving blenders. As they grind across bedrock, they pulverize the stone into the powders called glacial flour. #landscapephotography

The great pumpkin takeover is in full swing. If it can be pumpkin-spiced, it will be pumpkin-spiced. Lattes, muffins, candles, deodorant… I’m half-expecting pumpkin-spice brake fluid to hit the shelves! And, yes, fall landscape photography is imminent!

"Emerald Curtain" - Water, stone, and trees. Capture those elements in an interesting composition, with some stunning light, and one has photo they can be happy with. And I was certainly in the right place at the right time to capture this scene along the Boulder River, WA.
Best to ya!

"Crooked By Nature" - Some nice alpenglow at Smith Rock St Park, Oregon. Having the Crooked River wind through these glowing volcanic cliffs certainly adds to the overall impact of this classic desert scene.
Best to ya!

Fuzzy Giants - Deep in the Hoh Rainforest these old maples are adorned with a heavy coat of moss. This sky perspective allows for tree separation and an abstract quality.

Framed by ancient volcanic ash and sculpted by time, these massive walls in Cathedral Gorge State Park are ablaze with warm desert light as the sky opens up from above in this maze of narrow canyons. I always liked the abstract feeling of this desert scene.

"Fernscape" - What's not to like about ferns? They add that nice touch of symmetry, texture, depth, and of course, the calming effect of their lush green hues. For me, they provide that ancient forest vibe as they have been around since the time of dinosaurs. Cheers!

This image, I call Merry Go Round, found a permanent display home at the Wyoming State Capitol!! I worked many years in Cowboy State and my connection to the state runs deep. So to be selected to represent Wyoming’s great scenery at the Capitol is beyond imagination. .
Cheers!

"Sanctuary of Stone and Sea" - An image from the edge of the continent—Cape Flattery, where wind-swept pines and ancient sea stacks shape a landscape both with ruggedness and raw elegance.
No doubt this is one of those quintessential Pacific Northwest scenes that evoke a real sense of serenity.

"Liquid Sapphire" Blue water. One deep canyon. And a whole lot of colorful ancient lava made this scene of Lake Billy Chinook an interesting photo to me.
Scenes like this certainly make getting up before sunrise so worthwhile!

"Desert Lines" - Carved by wind, water, and an unreasonable amount of patience, these swirling sandstone waves tell a story millions of years in the making.
I really like how this B&W version leveraged the natural lines into a focal point of the image.
Cheers

Rock Stars - On my recent trip to Oregon I spend some time around Lake Billy Chinook. I decided to check out these hoodoos and glad I did. I've photographed many hoodoos, primarily in Arizona/Utah, and always have been fascinated by how erosion has sculpted these pillars in "fashionable geology."

"Pretty in Pink" - In a few weeks the rhododendrons will be in peak bloom in the PNW. I look forward to finding some new areas to capture the Washington state flower. No doubt an exiting time of year with waterfalls and wildflowers!

Is it waterfall season yet? This memory is from Wahclella Falls, tucked within the Columbia River Gorge, the falls spill powerfully into a turquoise-green pool, framed by moss-laden rocks. Cheers!

Is mud your thing? In this case, an abstract of sunbaked earth. The deeply cracked mud creates intricate patterns, focusing on texture, pattern, and form. Being neutral art, I like how it is subject to one's own interpretation. So, even cracked things can be interesting, maybe?😉
