I have been playing around with knowledge-graphs and ontologies recently, is there software to visualize/query/debug them that is not made for power users and with charm from the 80s? What is the datasette of KGs? #databs

Last update for Shoreline today, added special missions for new accounts. Instead of having to wait 4h+, new players now get tours from Celine and Marian that take seconds (with some immediate rewards in the form of collection items) ✨. Still far to go, but improving. #gamedev

I have become what annoyed me and not optimized images. When you stare long enough into the abyss etc. In any case, Shoreline's images are now a bit better optimized (still could be much improved), speaking speed is doubled, skip speaking to end clickbox is larger, login now has loading animation 🤝

Agree that the music on shoreline.apps.heltweg.org is catchy and nice. Its free to use from towball.itch.io/towballs-cro.... I tried it out as a placeholder while prototyping, but I think I will keep it. Happy to make Shorelines lifetime revenue -20€ and reward an artist for their work ☺️. #gamedev

whoever made both the snooze and the stop button the same style in the android clock app: what are you going?

Working hard on filling up my collection of Celines Critters in shoreline.apps.heltweg.org, just one more rare slot to unlock and some Budhoppers to find 😅. Also, I have to be honest there is not much of a goal right now, but I feel it is still kind of fun.

Email notifications for completed missions 🤝 Next up, random "if I was a worm, would you still go on missions with me?" letters because who is going to stop me?

Added email functionality to Shoreline. Tested it with new account creation, but annoying that I need to create a new account on live to test. So instead I added it to mission completion so now I just need to wait 8h to test 🧠

Wow, one of my projects URLs was up for renewal and I decided to instead move it to a subdomain of my personal domain... and thanks to Pulumi and my tiny k8s setup I could do a short search&replace + deploy and it actually worked first try. For a project that is a year+ old. What a time to be alive.

The year end has been a bad time for managing my weight, but new year, new me?! Still a happy user of my own minimalist weight tracker, weightbook.app/landing 😅. I wrote a about my motivation for writing it back when I released it: www.heltweg.org/posts/weigh....

The downside of putting off every todo until Jan 5th because it is after the holidays is that at some point it is Jan 5th 😮.

Interestingly, the negative reactions to AI stealing human work seem much stronger from artists and writers and less from programmers. I wonder if I'm just in the wrong bubble, if consistent OSS culture changes the perception or if programmers just don't consider themselves creatives?

Interesting read about how to scale oral exams using LLM/Voice agents. I think the takeaways ignore some social problems (I'd assume that good students don't like having to interact with an AI instead of the instructor), but great test: www.behind-the-enemy-lines.com/2025/12/fig...

Ah, I have been added to blocklists for my admitted use of AI. Fair enough, there are some strong opinions out there 😅.

Back from Christmas vacation with a spicy topic: Dialogue system for my browsergame Shoreline and writing them in collaboration with AI?

Also, I added some Nintendo-style typewriter effect to the dialogues because it is the dialogue style of my childhood and why not 🤩 ? Might be a bit fast though?

I've been playing the deployed Shoreline at shoreline.apps.heltweg.org. I was aware it looks terrible on mobile, but while wanting to complete a mission on my phone I noticed that is even impossible on small screens 🤦. So, I've spend some time making every page usable on mobile 🎉 .

I am back from Christmas travels and had a go at deploying Shoreline, the hopeful, collaborative browsergame I've prototyped for fun. It's insanely alpha and I'll still reset the data etc, but in case you want to have a look: shoreline.apps.heltweg.org/ #gamedev #indiedev

Road closures in Barcelona mean pedestrians reclaiming the street. Ah, how beautiful cities could be without cars. ☺️🚶🎄

For the first time in a long while I've spend Christmas at a beach. Can recommend it, looks beautiful with the rougher weather 🎄🌊.

I'm without a PC, visiting family, so for this #screenshotsaturday I'll share the reworked landing screen of a ice-breaker game for large groups that a friend is working on with me: rankmeifyoucan.com Any feedback on the design? I like the background style :)
