“He’s not real” is not really a good counter argument a writer can make. Instead of explaining your intentions that went into the writing of this character, you just kind of cop out. But if you intentions were to create gooner material than I understand if you are less forthcoming about that.
I can’t believe we still have to be saying this but VALENTINO ISN’T REAL. People can enjoy characters who do horrible things. Fiction is escape, fiction isn’t reality. if you cannot grasp that you don’t have the maturity to engage with media, and especially the REAL people involved in making media.
