"True accountability requires that we also fight for those whose names we may never know, but whose lives and safety matter just as much."

Thank you to Mónica Ramírez of Justice for Migrant Women for this thoughtful piece.

If you care about Chicago communities, consider HTA.
If you care about survivor-leadership and #organizing, consider HTA.
If you care about #immigrants, families, education, health, or violence prevention—there’s a way into HTA for everyone.

In the wake of increased military and law enforcement presence, many people are asking what they can do to help support our Chicago neighbors. Donating to HTA’s year-end #fundraiser is one transformative thing you can do today to ensure survivors have access to resources, care, and community.

Through every chapter of my involvement with Healing to Action, one thing has stayed the same: HTA’s unwavering fight for a world where those most impacted by gender-based violence feel safe and heard. Join our survivor-led movement by donating to our year-end campaign at our link in bio!

From the Epstein #survivors to Gisele Pelicot to survivors of Sean 'Diddy' Combs, survivors' courage cannot be overstated. But ending gender-based violence requires everyone's participation, not just heroic survivors. We must build a future where no survivor feels the burden of leadership alone.

Our leaders are ending the year strong with our #peer workshops. A participant shared “To me survivor led justice looks like educating others. Healing and bringing pain to purpose." This is why these #workshops are important. We are grateful for the collaboration with LoSAH, our most recent partner!

After pushback from gender-based violence (GBV) organizations, the Mayor's Office increased the 2026 Budget proposal to $21M. That is level funding from the 2025 Budget. Yet, under the $21M budget for GBV services in 2025, domestic violence related homicides increased by 47% as of today.

Many of HTA's partners joined the recent #NoKings march. We were especially moved by Palenque LSNA Director's inspiring poem: https://youtu.be/7dommC4Ow9M

Justice for survivors is something we continue to fight for alongside many issues. Everything is interconnected.

Letters: Federal government’s ‘crime-fighting’ strategy is making Chicago domestic violence survivors less safe
Like an abusive partner, the federal government is isolating domestic violence survivors by making help-seeking scarier and riskier.
