Cetacean strandings in Scotland have risen 125% over the past 30 years. Our study gives the first comprehensive picture of when, where, and which species strand, providing a baseline to guide conservation.

Found this bottle on a paddle out of Falmouth this morning. Looked up the company as I didn’t recognize it. Turns out they ceased manufacturing in 1982 🤯😩 meaning this bottle is *AT LEAST* 43 years old 🥲

This week I returned to my PhD after an 8month fellowship within Defra’s Marine and Fisheries science and evidence team.

Incredibly grateful for the experience and insight. Returning to my own research with renewed perspective on the science-policy interface.

First paper of 2025 🥳 on bacterial infections in porpoise, caused by bites from Grey seals. Vividly remember the PM on the 2nd case, significant necrosis effectively disintegrating the tissues in the pectoral fin😵
