Food forests aren't fantasy...

They're infrastructure.

Portland proved it. Utrecht is living it.

Philadelphia could be next.

The question isn't whether we can transform sidewalks into food systems...

It's whether we're willing to maintain what we plant.

The future of nutrition isn't just growing more food. It's using what we already have better.

New research shows food waste transformed into nutritional supplements, functional ingredients, probiotic compounds through ultrasound, microwave, microbial tech.

Real innovation.

THIS MATTERS. A LOT.

SupplyPHL isn't just another program. It's a stress test for Philadelphia.

Small businesses aren't "nice to have." They're the backbone of this city. They create jobs. Stabilize neighborhoods. Build generational wealth.

This is about who gets to participate.

For decades, nutrition policy was shaped by the same agency that promotes commodity agriculture. The consequences? Low fat dogma. Ultra processed food everywhere. Metabolic disease epidemic.

The 2026 guidelines show real change. But the structural conflicts remain.

IT WAS NOTHING BUT A PARTY, Y'ALL.

R&B Brunch at City Winery Philadelphia wasn't brunch...it was a vibe check. A family reunion. A cookout in your spirit with mimosas on the table.

The room was on its feet. The joy? Unmistakable.

Honored to work alongside Philadelphia officials exploring what it actually takes to address food insecurity at scale. Not with pilots that go nowhere, but with evergreen solutions using what we already have: infrastructure, institutions, suppliers, dollars, people.

This is food as infrastructure.

Isaiah Collier + Keyon Harrold.

Collier channeling ancestors and tomorrow. Urgent. Spiritual. Unfiltered.

Harrold's trumpet didn't just play...it spoke. Jazz braided with Afrobeat, soul, hip-hop.

Something real happened last night.

MrBeast just introduced 45M+ people to cultivated meat at UPSIDE Foods. When the most followed creator on the planet does a blind taste test, that's not just content... that's cultural shift. Food innovation is moving from policy papers into mainstream conversation.

Report from the world of classical music...alive and well...

Ludwig van Beethoven's "Emperor" commanded. Peter Donohoe at piano. Ama Dous Ensemble locked in. Focused. Elegant. Dangerous in the best way.

Philadelphia showed up. The room was electric.

Last night's Economy League panel on immigration was excellent. Chess over checkers. Not soundbites... strategy. Not ideology... data.

Research by Saloni Tandon & Ziqi Zhou was exceptional. Led by Jeff Hornstein, panelists tackled the hard questions Philly needs to hear.

Honored to work on the 7th Annual PAGE Summit Feb 26 at Alan Horwitz Center... connecting local businesses to anchor contracts... real conversations, real buyers, real pathways... this is what progress looks like... Philly let's go

Some spaces just have it. 1911 Walnut Street, Laurel Hill, is one of them. The building felt like part of the exhibition. And then there's Rachel Zimmerman. Pure hustle. Relentless connector. InLiquid turns private spaces into public conversations. More of this. #PhillyArts

Walked past Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Stone and light, Gothic grace, illustrious history. Beautiful. Undeniable. And it was 18 degrees. The church was quiet. Just outside, people sleeping in the cold. What a magnificent place this would be to feed people. Just saying.

PHILADELPHIA HOSPITALITY ROLL CALL. Honored to be at the PRLA Philadelphia Winter Installation at the Union League. Ben Felecia is leading the charge. Big rooms + big ideas + the people doing the work. If you were there, you felt it. Onward. #PRLAPhilly #PhillyHospitality

When the lights were low and the music industry quietly slid into SOUTH, you knew what time it was. DJ Aktive on the 1s and 2s holding it together. This is what happens when SOUTH brings the right people together and lets the music speak. #PhillyJazz #PhillySoul

Dance Theatre of Harlem at Annenberg Center... I was smiling, giggling, low-key losing my mind like I just discovered joy for the first time. Precision. Power. Grace. Swagger. Soul. Ballet that knows where it comes from and isn't afraid to evolve. Excellence meets intention.

Got to spend time in a room that reminded me why I still believe in public service... and why Philadelphia is better off than we give ourselves credit for.

Dr. Nina Ahmad and her team: thoughtful, serious, grounded, human. Leadership that listens more than it speaks.

The new food pyramid is... a mess. And not the helpful kind.

Federal govt rolled out new dietary guidelines... calls it a "reset." Vox deep dive shows it's mostly vibes, contradictions, political aesthetics dressed as science.

Shapes school meals, federal programs, billions in public dollars.
January 21, 2026 at 11:01 PM
Distributing food with Speaker McClinton revealed the problem... we ran out. And what we had wasn't meals, just fragments. Spinach, Wonder Bread, no protein. Food isn't charity, it's infrastructure. PA Feeding PA means ensuring meals, not hoping for ingredients. That's the work ahead.

This week: walked North Philly with Tahirah... no lights, no script, just truth. She's lived food insecurity daily. Corner store stop... shelves full, nutrition empty. These moments fill gaps data can't. I AM HUNGRY... almost there. Not blinking.
January 20, 2026 at 11:01 PM
This is absolutely right! The answers to the test are literally right in front of us... and have been for a long time.

Local jobs. Resilient supply chains. Healthier food. Keep dollars here.

You don't need another panel or task force. Just choose local.

PA Preferred makes it simple.

Some days it's all emails and logistics. Then you're talking with Herbie Hancock about International Jazz Day 2026. You stop... literally stop... and remember this doesn't suck. Jazz is dialogue. It's improvisation. It's democracy in sound. Grateful to be in this flow. #JazzDay

Economy League + FWD are hosting something important on January 27 at Industrious.

It's about immigration as economic infrastructure... talent pipelines, workforce stability, innovation capacity.

This isn't political theater... it's about how Philadelphia actually functions.
January 18, 2026 at 11:01 PM
Today we honor MLK... not with platitudes, but with honesty.

He talked about poverty. Hunger. The moral failure of abundance sitting untouched while people go without.

We produce enough food. Yet millions are food insecure.

That's a system failure.

Tomorrow is a responsibility.

Something cut through the noise...

Academia Bistro at Drexel: where food science meets real life. Dr. Deutsch fortifying ice cream for cancer patients. FEAST's Gabe scaling solutions. Evan Ehlers turning waste into nourishment.

This is what it looks like when ideas become living things.
