Something red steady-glows by the gate, then moves off when you near. You follow, until you realise you're lost deep in the woods, and totally turned around.
'Need a hand?' a deep voice calls from behind you. 'You help me find my reindeer and I'll help with the necklace.'

#tinytalestuesday
It's not until you've bundled inside, stomped ice from boots and burned lips on hot chocolate, that you realize you lost your necklace out there in the drifts. You suit back up, search in the waning light, but the necklace remains lost. What do you find instead?

My favourite is the grit from my left eye the Sandman left on a May morning - grey &inconsequential.
It is the Dream that defines the rest, infuses my days with sparkle and the thing I strive for when the months turn hard. I lose it, briefly, aged 24, but set it in a ring, aged 30. Grounded, again.
The thing about stones is you will never find two the same. You try; searching sandy shores, mossy caves, and volcanic peaks, but there is always variation in texture, shape, gradation, and history. What are some of the jewels (literal or not) of your collection?

The problem, it turns out, is that badgers eat the oversized pink bean harvest and grow, GROW.
Giant badgers tear through crops, their claws gouging marks through town square and herds alike. You realise they're the perfect animal for mining. Just need to tame them, so off to market you go..
So you've sold your cow for magic beans. You've dutifully planted and watered the beans, kept the dirt free of weeds and built a fence to keep out the rabbits. It soon becomes apparent these beans will not take you to a land in the clouds. What happens instead?

Wes Streeting says "little or no support" for striking docs. Let's prove this cunt wrong. Repost if you wanna show solidarity with essential workers fighting for their rights after years of underfunding and real terms pay cuts. Who's with me?

No one said what happened to the crew member whose bunk I inherited. It's an upgrade, by a window, paint included.
Their dreams come to me in colours - mermaid-turquoise, beechleaf-green, octopus-purple. I paint on rice-paper, sold as memory scraps so they're remembered in this forever black.
On an interplanetary merchant ship, strictly enforced rules and regulations are how a crew survives with ship intact and food properly rationed. Even so, each crewmember is allowed a few grams of paint and personal items for their bunk. What does your cot look like?

The button is small, jewelled like a scarab. Not as worn as the others, the button I grab when the world glints askew. It is the button to use to make sure the tiny time-cracks do not grow, nor that the world keeps spinning the right way round.
I don't notice the hole in my pocket this morning..
One deep breath. Hold. Let it out. Another. Each inhale a prayer, every exhale an intention. Today is the start of something new. As you fall into tune with your breath, you feel strength build within. What do you carry with you to face the world this morning?

Well, that's that... Deactivated the X-twitter account. A foggy day in January seemed appropriate.

Found my writing sweet spot. Book a train between home and London and back again. That's 3 hrs focussed writing. Have done a draft pitch and reasonable first draft of a script.

Gosh, it's like being the new kid at school EXCEPT all your friends turned up early with a welcome mat!
