The U.S. Supreme Court announced on Monday that it will take up a case that could redefine how 16 states and DC handle mail-in voting — specifically, whether ballots postmarked by Election Day but arriving later can still be counted.

Trump’s pardons send a dangerous message: undermining voters isn’t punishable, it’s rewarded. Just days after millions cast their ballots, he’s inviting future efforts to overturn elections and silence the will of the people.

Still buzzing from an incredible night at the TIME100 Next Gala — being honored alongside so many incredible changemakers for the work I get to do every day at @allvotingislocal.bsky.social

Seeing voters across the country make their voices heard this week made the moment even more powerful.

Yesterday’s elections sent a powerful message: voters believe their voices matter. Across the country, we saw strong — even record-breaking — turnout from people determined to make their vote count.

That kind of engagement is something to celebrate. And it's a call to action.

All across the U.S., today is Election Day! Millions of voters are heading to the polls. 🇺🇸

Election Day may feel like a single moment, but every election is supported by months of planning, preparation & daily work by election officials.

Your voice matters & you will be heard.

This #ElectionHeroDay, let's celebrate the local clerks, poll workers, election staff, and volunteers who make sure every voice is heard and every vote is counted.

Thanks to their hard work and dedication, voters can show up to the polls with confidence in the process.

In 2025, lawmakers in 16 states have pushed through 29 laws that make it harder to vote.

Slashing early voting, expanding voter purges, and piling on new ID and mail ballot barriers. Every one of them chips away at all of our freedom to vote.
This year, 16 states enacted 29 restrictive voting laws — a rise that coincides with unprecedented efforts by the federal government to undermine our elections. Check out the latest State Voting Laws Roundup to learn more: bit.ly/475imbF
State Voting Laws Roundup: October 2025
The number of new restrictive voting laws has increased this year, while legislation aimed at expanding voting access has lagged.

47 million Americans - of all stripes - voted by mail in 2024. Hear from my Arizona colleague about what attacks on vote by mail mean to voters in her state.
Arizona’s vote-by-mail system has strengthened democracy for decades, making voting easier and turnout higher.
But misinformation threatens to upend that progress.

Read our AZ Senior Democracy Defense Manager’s op-ed on why protecting vote-by-mail matters.

Today, the Supreme Court is hearing arguments to further weaken the Voting Rights Act.

If the Court allows these rollbacks, Black and Brown voters could see their voices diluted through unfair maps and our elections will drift further from the principle of equal representation.
This week, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments that could deal another major blow to the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (VRA) — a cornerstone of our democracy that protects voters of color from discrimination.

Here’s what you need to know 🧵

These copycat bills aren’t isolated, they build on federal efforts to silence eligible voters.

The Trump admin is setting the stage for election interference at an unprecedented scale.

These actions lay the groundwork to make voting harder & baselessly undermine election results. Our job is to fight back, support election officials, & protect voters every chance we get.

Our democratically-run election system is one of the things that keeps American elections safe.

Federal laws, passed by Congress, are the appropriate way for the federal gov. to impact voting policy – not oversteps that threaten access for eligible voters.
