The coils writhe around each other with faint glimmers of scales highlighted, before vanishing into darkness. This is a teaser for the beast that will be encountered and explained within the webcomic. Layered over the writing coils of the Amphiox is its tail, oddly centered and still compared to the rest of its body. An amphiox's tail ends in a fin with rounded tips. The fin's color is a bright, bioluminescent gradient composed of yellow fading into bright skyblue, before tapering into a darker cerulean. The tail has vibrating red highlights. It casts a rainbow of highlights onto its own scales. Attached to this tail are two more, lesser pectoral and dorsal fins, in cerulean blue. Why would a fish god be in a volcano?

This Dunkleosteus was consumed by an abyssal vent over 350 million years ago...Before the volcanic island breached the ocean's surface! It is the oldest god in the volcanic pantheon from my game about extinction.

The point of view is from high up, with a little bit of mountain and close vegetation including acai trees and various bushes visible. Spent an evening working through a new Amphiox script, titled 'Idolon' for now because that's the second of like three very weird concepts that the reader needs to understand in order for the plot to work

The first concept was 'what is an amphiox' so that story was called... amphiox

First draft of a video game asset depicting a game board that resembles a volcano. It's not very well-rendered. It's drawn in a very simple cel-shaded style with mostly black outlines. The lava inside is wrinkled, jagged, not very bright. The rim of the volcano is solid with no delineation for different spots on the board to move a piece. Off in the distance is a rudimentary attempt to draw a chain of small islands covered with forests with mountains springing from them, although it's not very refined. The water texture on the ocean waves is very painterly and seems too close to the foreground. Revised artwork based on the previous. The main elements are still there: A volcano top openly bubbles with bright, searing lava, with distant tropical islands beckoning the viewer to relax. Notable changes to this artwork include separated spots for players to clearly see where they are moving their pieces. There are more mountains nearby, and the islands look much more distant. The ocean texture has been toned down to a glass-like sheen. A little shore spit and distant beach forms are more softly rendered in the shadows of distant island mountains. More vegetation has been rendered on the volcano itself, so that players don't forget that this is a chill, green place in which to fight each other to the death.

The anatomy drills are for people who enjoy doing them, and want to portray the illusion of 3D people on a 2D surface

Full illustration in cel-shaded, digital art style. It depicts many animals fleeing the ashen clouds of a volcanic eruption, in which the skeletons of ancient prehistoric gods lunge out after them (quetzalcoatlus, dunkleosteus, apatosaurus, and T. rex). The illustration is primarily blue with some pops of color for each animal. The doedicurus (prehistoric armadillo) is grayish-green as it leaps ahead of an enormous T. rex's snapping jaws. The yellow thylacine springs out a bit further ahead. Closest to the viewer is a green Pinta Island giant tortoise, which is probably for the best since it is going to be too slow to escape without a head start. Next is a screeching purple-headed dodo with a yellow beak. An orange woolly mammoth charges forth behind the dodo, trumpeting as it goes.
