Armed ICE agents trapped US citizens in a restaurant and demanded their papers. Federal agents walked into East African restaurants in Cedar-Riverside, MN. They closed and blocked the doors. Then they demanded to see everyone’s papers. Every person present was a US citizen.

Absolutely disgusting. A woman 15 days post cesarean section with a daughter in the NICU was held in Broadview without access to pump breast milk, to medical care for her incision, to supplies for her type 1 diabetes, or a bed or shower.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.
The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

This week I’m on a work trip to Boston and NYC. I’m taking the Amtrak Acela train between them. This is one of the fastest trains we have in the US, but it doesn’t compare to trains I took in Europe.
