Wrapping up a glorious sunny week on #isleofcoll. Lots of white-tailed eagle sightings with at least 2 adults and 1 immature bird on the island right now. Other raptors doing well with a pair of hen harriers, pair of buzzards and a male Merlin being seen frequently. #birding #birdingscotland

Seeing what I assume is the same male Merlin every day now on #isleofcoll - no sign of a female but hopefully they’ve established a territory! First sand martins, 10 red-breasted merganser, 4 teal, 2 common redpoll and 1 rook the most notable sightings today #birding #birdingscotland

Day 2 on #isleofcoll - a male Merlin hunting in front of the house topped off yesterday evening nicely, a great day for raptors. Also had a GND moulting into summer plumage which was nice. Lots of willow warblers around the island now and another swallow #birding #birdingscotland

First day of a week on #isleofcoll today and already off to a great start! Had white-tailed eagle and hen harrier from the house along with plenty of smart wheatears flitting about. First swallow of the year from the ferry and two puffins as well! #birding #birdingscotland

Some dodgy record shots of a hawfinch in Dunkeld today - part of a larger group of about ten very vocal birds feeding in the tree tops #bird #birding #soctland #birdingscotland #hawfinch

Another species that’s worth looking for establishing territories in the early spring is the Marsh Harrier. Learning their call might help as well - have a listen to this
