Deep thought: We keep hearing about how AI destroys peoples' brains and ability to reason. So who uses AI more than anyone else? The people making it. At the very least, they test it for hours a day. So we can surmise that the decisions around AI dev/deployment are the dumbest possible decisions.

Any suggestions for technology to assist in producing board game documents? I'm thinking of something to assist in repeating the same block layouts over and over with varying content, or a table of commonly used icons I can plop in as if they were text characters. Somewhere between Word and Canva.

You know what the world needs? A souls-like (mixed with about 30% Devil May Cry) where you're Wonder Woman. Lots of shield parrying, a limited-use lasso to lock guys down, bullet reflecting bracelets, hurling environmental objects and your opponents. Why is it always Batman when she's right there?

I get unreasonably happy each time I defeat AI in a program I use. And it feels like a battle to win. There's always an upfront option like "Disable Generative AI", but it turns out there's 7 other steps, most hidden. Well, for Adobe Acrobat, just go Menu > Disable New Acrobat Reader. Enjoy!

Chrome perma-blocked uBlock Origins ad blocker, which would make youtube unusable (AKA 'functioning as intended'). So I gave Brave a try and now I feel dumb for waiting so long. Wow, every ad everywhere is gone! Seems like something the Megacorps won't continue to allow, but I'll enjoy it for now.

I got this email (of course), and was absolutely gobsmacked to see the social security administration sending out literal propaganda. This is yet another massive red line crossed and it's all downhill from here.

Hi, I think a lot of us received e-mails from SSA saying that social security will no longer be taxed - and that somehow there is "enhanced deductions" (how much enhancement can you make to 0?) for those over 65. What part, if any, of this is true? Thank you!

Just because I didn't know it existed (I'm probably the dumb one here, but surely there are others): I just learned fonts.google.com exists. Thousands of fonts, licensed for all uses for free, in a very searchable database. Like wow, I guess google did something good?

There are absolutely not enough people talking about the movie "Drop". We went to see it entirely because we had to know why the woman falls out of the restaurant in the trailer. The answer we got was as insane and nonsensical as the rest of the movie. We laughed so hard, so many times.

Suggestion for phone makers: show the local time of the person you're talking to (based on the contact address, not like tracking their phone!) somewhere in the text/call system, so you know if this is an appropriate time to contact them!

I'm trying to renew my passport (as we all should at this point!), and it turns out that the bags under my eyes are so bad that their automated system won't accept my photo because it thinks I'm wearing glasses.

I was just hearing about the Chinese AI that is going to run the world, and someone mentioned that it's trained on copyrighted stuff, and we can't sue because it's China. I thought, "true, China doesn't care about copyright"... then I thought, why do we? China clearly has all the same art industries

Because sometimes knowledge i find on social media appears in my brain when I need it, here's knowledge you might need one day: vegetable oil rapidly breaks down the glue in a glue trap. Very handy for saving, for example, a ring-tailed cat stuck to a glue trap you didn't know was in your attic.

Because sometimes knowledge i find on social media appears in my brain when I need it, here's knowledge you might need one day: vegetable oil rapidly breaks down the glue in a glue trap. Very handy for saving, for example, a ring-tailed cat stuck to a glue trap you didn't know was in your attic.
