The Victims and Courts Bill is an excellent piece of legislation that will make a real difference to victims. But it is just a start. I asked if the Minister if she and the Department will rededicate themselves to bringing down the Crown court backlog.

Great news that after extensive lobbying from residents, LBHF (& me), the Hammersmith counter will remain open. Opening hours will be 10am-10pm Monday-Friday & 9am-7pm on weekends. Pleased the Met have listened to concerns & are keeping more stations accessible to the public.
The news that more police front counters will remain open - with extended opening hours - for members of the public is welcome.
Whilst this is an operational policing decision, this action would not have been possible without record-breaking funding from City Hall.

Great news today from the Mayor that violent crime leading to injury is down in every London borough. Including by 8.8% in Hammersmith & Fulham and 11.5% in Hounslow.
Violent crime with injury is down in every London borough thanks to the collective efforts of the police and London's Violence Reduction Unit.
But one death or one crime is one too many - so we’ll keep working with partners and the government to drive down crime and make London safer for everyone.

Mourning the death of my friend Iain Coleman. Iain was MP for Hammersmith and Fulham 1997-2005 and Leader of Hammersmith and Fulham Council 1991-96. A man of infinite compassion and great political skill, but best remembered as someone who just made life interesting and fun.

The troubling findings of Baroness Harman’s independent review of bullying, harassment & sexual harassment are primarily for the Bar itself & for the judiciary to address, but I asked if the Government support the recommendations & what can they do to ensure they are implemented.
