I’ve been keeping up with about 22 airing anime this season. A lot of sequels but my favorites of the new shows has been Journal with Witch & Shiboyugi. Other than that I did watch Shigofumi in January and finally finished OG Bleach (filler and all) after restarting it back in 2023.

Man it sounds like you’re having a great 2026 so far with anime!
I watched this while it was airing and had a blast with it! I really didn’t understand the mixed reception it seemed to get.
Watanabe’s stuff almost always just has that rule of cool vibe that makes it feel like something special.

The laid back cameos were definitely fun!
I’m sure you’ve heard of it but I’d recommend Insomniacs After School if you’re looking for another anime with a bit of a focus on photography. Again, it’s not as focused as Laid Back Camp and more of a romance but it was one of my favorites from 2023.

It was definitely an awesome experience! Makes me wish I would’ve caught some of the Demon Slayer movies in theaters too.
A 4k release would be epic! If Viz doesn’t do it hopefully it’ll at least get a 4k release in Japan we can import 🤞

Love that OP & ED, so catchy! The skateboarding episode was pretty cool and kinda one of the only episodes that really stuck in my memory lol

Went to see this in theaters on Halloween, first anime film I’ve seen on the big screen! Felt a bit meta watching Denji and Makima theater hop in the beginning lol

Doesn’t help that CR’s store has been a mess when it comes to backordering. I’ve had things BO’d for almost a year in some cases before they either randomly showed up or were cancelled. Discotek really should’ve just cut CR as their main distributor and went with MediaOCD after rightstuf.

I can definitely hear them saying that this was a special case but I’m not sure they can deny much at this point. Like you say, unfortunately more people will now just wait.
I’d imagine Monster will be split into at least 2 sets because they know it’ll sell well regardless.

I think it’s great that these titles are staying in print but I feel kinda bad for the people that payed aftermarket prices.
I understand things change but they were pretty firm about not doing this (especially for City Hunter). Feels like they could have been a bit more transparent about it.

That would be awesome! I regretfully missed out on the dvd and would love to own it, hopefully with the Mike Toole commentary included.

It’s always a good thing to get in early with the retro stuff from Sentai for sure.
They haven’t really been picking up that many new anime lately so every time they release something like this I kinda hope they’re testing the waters for a possible change in direction.

My gut reaction is to hold out for a sale, because ya know it’s Sentai, but I really want to encourage them to put out more stuff like this

I really enjoyed this one too! Like you said, definitely feels like a love letter to that era.

This is definitely a personal favorite of mine, probably in my top 3. Absolutely criminal that we never got a physical release of the sequel seasons. Sadly it feels like this series is a bit forgotten. Hopefully the manga getting reprinted later this year will breathe some new life.
