My research project ‘Racism Resides Here: StoryMapping Housing Injustice Across Rhode Island’ was awarded private funding for our initial phase today!

I’m so excited to work with my research partners and our students to tell these critical , often hidden, stories.

I hosted my first Edible Books Festival today! The first year for an event is always a bit of a gamble, so I brought four entries just in case.

Thinking a lot about shame as it relates to discussions of AI on our campuses at #ACRL2025. There are certainly a lot of reasons to be cautious about AI, but I don’t ever want to approach conversations about AI from a deficit viewpoint.

Thanks to @ezerrenner.bsky.social for the visual reminder of our work. I don’t knit, but may have to teach myself how to do something similar as a visualization of my instruction assessment to visualize student learning. #ACRL2025

I took a stab at creating a custom feed for #ACRL2025 conference chatter to make it easier to follow.

It’s always a surprise when something like this is delivered to my office as a thank you for visiting a class. It’s never expected but always appreciated. Thanks, Beth!

Them: Why did you come to tonight’s Eating with ADHD class?

Me: It’s 6:30 and I just remembered that today, I’ve had a mint and a handful of popcorn.

Today’s hill: it’s easier to schedule a meeting using the tool in your calendar app and adding Zoom as a location than it is to send 100 emails and include the meeting link in the last email.

Unrelated, sorry I was late to that meeting. I didn’t know it was happening.

Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers!

Is anyone else noticing an uptick in student research questions about the benefits of book banning? How are you responding to these requests?

Ahh! Yes. I’ve been trying to organize 20,000 personal family photos with no info attached. I’m matching shirts, haircuts, locations, and taking birth/death dates into account in an attempt to piece the details together.

Ugly face, child on tractor, and ex-best friend are unhelpful descriptions!
How not to label your family photographs.

As a librarian who constantly hears her games collection referred to as ‘amusement,’ I can assure you there are scholarly applications of these resources. And, out of spite, I put another lesson based on one into my classes every time I hear that word.
‘Dessert Books’ aren’t a thing. Read what you like, when you like. Our library has something for everyone.

If your favorites are listed as ‘dessert,’ you can book an appointment with a librarian to plan a relevant scholarly research project grounded in that ‘dessert.’
