I don’t have unlimited toilet paper in my own house. Must be nice.

Y'all watched me make a LOT of Halloween/Day of the Dead ceramics. You watched me make a handful of Thanksgiving ceramics. What other holiday are we missing? Oh! Christmas. I've had some wins and some losses while trying to make Christmas ceramics.

Works in Progress Wednesday! This week, in addition to the usual handbuilding/yarn club dyeing/painting and glazing bisque/trying to find time to make soap… I'm also taking a look at the last year, and going over my "business stuff."

Don't let the attentiveness to whatever they heard outside fool you… I'm pretty much required to spend an hour every morning as heated furniture for these girls while they lounge on the couch (and me) and pretend like they haven't just been sleeping all night.

And here those Christmas trees are, finished! See what I mean about the dry glaze looking light brown, but after it's fired, it's dark green? One man's science is another man's magic. I still have the bases to fire but hopefully I'll have these up and listed end of next week!

Honey Butter and Newt hope that some time this weekend you get to hang out with a friend that you used to be a little afraid of but now can't get enough time with.

Scenes from a work day; the Christmas trees are all glazed and ready to fire! This is one of those "I love how glaze lies" moments, also, because although they look light brown, they're going to fire to a deep green.

Somehow in between making the September Patreon ceramics and the October ones, I forgot that I made the text on the September medallions blue… and I made these in the colors that I was making the Thanksgiving ones. Honestly, I think it works better than the blue! I hope the Patrons loved them.

Pre-coffee thoughts: sometimes I wonder if Alexa's feelings are hurt that the only thing I ever ask her to do is to turn on and off that one lamp I can't reach. I mean, at least I always thank her! I want to be remembered fondly by our future AI overlords.

Awwwww yeah! The tortoise soaking tub made it through the bisque firing with no issues! And see how it shrunk in comparison to the photo from last week, pre-firing? Not too much, just about half an inch - totally expected, and Statler will still be able to fit into it. Next stop, glazing!

It's Works-in-Progress Wednesday, and Executive Assistant Peppa Potato is here for all of your three-legged doggo needs. Need something chewed on? Got something with not quite enough slobber on it? Perhaps you are in need of a fifteen minute break and would like to snuggle with a warm dog?

Scenes from a work day; a rolling pin is such a great cheat/tool for putting that little extra bit of curve into mug handles.

What's up? TORTOISE BUTT. Hi, I'm twelve, and that never gets old. You know what does get old, though? Gramps, here, who always finds THE worst places to dig a new burrow. So far in ten years he's done in the back yard when we first moved here, before we could get a section fenced in for the dogs…

October's Patreon ceramics have been sent out and should all be in their happy little homes by now, so follow along for a couple of days as I show you what I made and how I did it!

If your first Pixel phone was fine, your second one had a recall, the replacement woke up one day with a white static screen and never worked again, and the next one overheated and died, and the one you've now had for 13 months has a neon green line running down the right side of the screen....

Scenes from a work day; the tortoise soaking tub has made it into the kiln! It was touch and go for a bit because while I remembered to make it small enough to fit in the kiln, I forgot to take into account room for my hands while I was putting it in there.
November 8, 2025 at 8:08 PM
After cleaning up the seams underneath, I was able to flip it back right-side-up. Now I have the lip braced for a little bit until it's a little more firm. Then…. carry it to the kiln!
November 8, 2025 at 5:35 PM
I did it! I did it! I flipped this beast over and it's still in one piece! tbh I don't know whether I should be proud of myself (it was heckin' heavy) or worried that everything seems to be working and that means I have to build a second one!
