🤔 will the "CRT Filter" aesthetic on the (mostly) indie games side be a hallmark of art choice of the mid 2020s' gaming?

Will we look back in 2045 at this aesthetic, completely forgetting CRT themselves as they will be so far removed? (see: floppy disk & saving symbolism)

Streamed today. Didn't say anything, fixing bugs (SUCCESS!) + planning out how to put another settings feature for accessibility (reading docs)
Also listened to some of the songs I've composed in the last couple months, taking notes and finding a couple REALLY matched well with the gameplay #gamedev

One of the most rewarding aspects of making games?

Getting letters about how your games got them through tough times, or brought their friends and family together when they were apart.

Making things that can do that?

Gamedev stream went well but it was completely derailed from the initial goal - critical bugs appeared that needed tidying up, and some unusual code issues happened in the areas I was play testing - unfortunately not the kinds of bugs I was looking for - the 😭 kinds that require immediate work.

Should have announced before going live, but did a gamedev stream today!
+new OBS scripting working really well, shows off different angles of the scenes I'm working in automatically
+got some good additional level details done
+ lot of rough QA that needed validating

Just had to format and write a new partition table to a drive. Data - lost. It was an external HDD for an Xbox, so it wasn't exactly regular stuff. Upside, the games can all just be downloaded again. Thought the drive was gone entirely, but you know, I have a certain set of skills...

It isn't every day a technology blog really excites me, when you've been around the block for awhile, like seeing old tools dressed in new clothing, it can be sometimes eye-rolling. But seeing the announcement of Advanced Shader Delivery does excite me because it genuinely brings value. Link below.

Went live briefly on twitch today - was testing some new hardware triggers, most of them worked as expected.

One did not and put me in a blank category, how odd.

The dev machine eventually crashed though.

On the brighter side, very happy with the new look 😁

So I got this asset a couple years ago for Unity, and found out today the developer had discontinued development.

They had made a better asset, and gave a free upgrade to everyone who used the former asset they discontinued. Nice!
