I don’t have a big issue with it. Per the Flag Code (Title 36), you are correct.
What I do have an issue with is the execution of the salute. Anyone who has served looks at that like “What the fuck?”

I don’t have a problem with him saluting on a protocol basis. Now, he is doing to look like he is in the military, bone spurs and all.
What I do have a problem with is the salute itself. It is all wrong, looks like he is shielding the sun. It is awful.
