For the first time ever, Leicester Square has an outdoor ice rink open now through January 4, 2026. Visitors can glide around the William Shakespeare statue in 45-minute skate sessions available every 15 minutes. Plus, there is festive food, drinks, and a Christmas Market.

Today in History (5 November 1605): Guy Fawkes and fellow conspirators tried to blow up the Palace of Westminster to kill King James I and restore Catholic rule. The plot was foiled and is marked annually with bonfires and fireworks.

At the National Army Museum, see the skeleton of Marengo, Napoleon’s small grey Arab stallion. Named after his 1800 victory, Marengo carried the Emperor through many battles including Waterloo.

Today in History (20 Oct 1632): Sir Christopher Wren, London’s great architect, was born. After the Great Fire of 1666, he rebuilt over 50 churches, including St Paul’s Cathedral with its iconic triple-shell dome, shaping much of London’s skyline.
