Night night sweet dreamies

It’s okay to feel what you feel.
You’re not exaggerating.
You’re not too much.
You’re allowed to feel hurt,
to struggle,
to take your time.
Your feelings are valid, always

Please hold on

Please don’t give up

🤣🤣
We all know ‘tragedy’ comes from Greek.

‘tragos’ = goat

‘aeidein’ = to sing

So ‘tragedy’ originally meant “goat song.”

Not to be confused with the GOAT song, which is probably “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman.

Hi Editors,

OpenAI’s new “cookbook” for agents is out, but it’s pretty code-heavy.

Custom GPTs are still the easiest way to build something useful into your workflow without coding.

I'm thinking of doing a workshop on that. Would that be helpful? Let me know.

The two most common questions I get asked about AI are “which AI should I use” and “how do I start using AI?”

I wrote a short guide attempting to answer both questions. www.oneusefulthing.org/p/using-ai-r...

🤖 I’ve been exploring where AI fits into editing—what it helps with, where it falls short, and what that might mean for our work.

💬 Are you using AI in your workflow?
🧠 If so, what’s working (or not)?
🤔 If not, why not?

💡Curious how other editors are handling it.

🤖 A recent study claims that AI has passed the Turing test, with GPT-4.5 being judged as human 73% of the time.

💬 What does that mean for editors, researchers, and writers?

📰 Interesting NYT article: Is it worth saying "please" and "thank you" to AI?

I think word choice matters, even with machines. It shapes how we communicate.

What do you think?

Saying ‘Thank You’ to ChatGPT Is Costly. But Maybe It’s Worth the Price.
Adding words to our chatbot can apparently cost tens of millions of dollars. But some fear the cost of not saying please or thank you could be higher.
