There is a delicate tightrope walk school principals must master one side being the expectations of their staff and school community the other being the nonnegotiable of their division and government. Finding that path through both is a true skill.

I had 2 interactions with principals I support today where they thanked me and made sure I knew how respected I am in their group of principal friends. Working in schools these days is hard. I’m so thankful to be able to be a soft place or land for the leaders of these spaces.

My parents forced me to take French classes from grade 4-12. I learned about Carnaval Des Quebec in these classes and finally got a photo with Bonhomme! Junior high life goals complete.

My school division hosts seasonal pipe ceremonies in our schools. I appreciate these days for time to slow down our thoughts & sit in circle together, for our elders who share their knowledge and lift their pipe, for the feeling of connection to staff, our communities & students. #reconciliation

The thing I’ve learned to do this school year so far is slow down Sunday. Where we slowed down Sunday. Slow morning, slow walk, homemade slow cooked Sunday meal. Slow down. Breath deep. Reenergize.
