Does anyone else get the feeling James Cameron wants Avatar 3 to "under-perform" enough so that he doesn't have to direct 4 and 5. He's been dropping hints all year.

Watched the new 4K of Demolition Man last night. Great transfer of a seriously fun film, complete with both Taco Bell and Pizza Hut versions.
Then re-listened to the old @whmpodcast.bsky.social episode on it. Fucking hysterical. Might be a top 10 episode.

Rewatched Spielberg's WEST SIDE STORY tonight. (No, not because Tarantino mentioned it. I couldn't care less what he thinks tbh.)
It's legitimately a masterpiece. Dazzling film-making. One of the best 21st Century film musicals.
And he should have won his 3rd Oscar for it.

The new Michael Jackson biopic looks fucking terrible. But it will make a billion dollars because it will do all the tedious and obvious things that the hit biopics do (which the moronic public lap up) like squeezing as many hit songs in as possible.

I enjoy being detached from a lot of current pop music.
Case in point: I heard "Espresso" for the first time the other night and it was embarassing. Dreadful vocals, incomprehensible lyrics (probably for the best when you google them), a turgid melody. Took 4 people to write it. Absolute shite.
