Nov-Jan outlook is for normal to below normal #groundwater levels across UK, perhaps low in E. England. Flow in groundwater-fed #rivers may remain below normal or low but normal to above in N&W UK. Limited rain may delay recovery in S&E until early 2026 hydoutuk.net/latest-outlo...

Upper reaches of #Thames remain dry for ~12km downstream from its source. No flow at Ewen, Somerford Keynes & Ashton Keynes but ~2km further downstream there are signs of recovery. As #groundwater levels begin to rise, slow #water flows appearing where #river was dry at the end of September

Oct-Dec outlook: Below normal #river flow in groundwater-dominated catchments in S England & NE Scotland likely to persist. Potential for #groundwater recovery if significant rain over next 3 months. Elsewhere normal to above flows & groundwater likely hydoutuk.net/latest-outlo...

Great time last week, volunteering with @RiverThameCT on Sheep Brook. Fed by #groundwater from the Chalk #aquifer, it's a tributary of the Lewknor Brook. Before & after removing small rock weir to improve fish passage & enable natural flows to reshape channel & gravel bed

Why the sad face☹️ Yesterday, on the dry bed of #River Thames at Ashton Keynes, 7 miles from its source. Repeat of August 2022 when I looked hopefully upstream at same location. The result of exceptionally low #groundwater level in #Cotswolds #aquifer after prolonged dry weather

Out on the #water, paddling down the River Kennet earlier this week. Despite the prolonged dry weather, it's looking good because of natural #groundwater flows from aquifers across the catchment and #river management.

Fantastic Upper Thames Catchment Partnership meeting last week including walk along #River Coln hosted by @ernestcooktrust. With very dry weather the low flow is #groundwater from #Cotswolds #aquifers, enhanced by nature-based interventions creating pool-glide-riffle structure

With India suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, can they really stop #water flowing into Pakistan? Transboundary water management under stress but could water be "weaponised" further if tension rises between the two countries?
