I write about indie games at imalwaystired.blog
This week I played Brew from @snowleafstudios.bsky.social I had a lot of fun with it, though a little short. I enjoyed experimenting with the potions to see how overpowered I could be in a single run. The upgrades are meaningful, it looks good and I am excited for the roadmap.

Small Elixer of Comfort- Brew Review
I think this was the quickest turnaround I've had from playing a game demo to playing the full game. I had that much fun with it. I had a hunch that I might have been able to live out a power fantasy in this week's game, and it was true. This week, I play as an apparent failed alchemist but come out as the underdog the whole time.

Here I thought Onikura from @TooDarkStudios was a 2D soulslike. Turns out it is a boss rush with a beautiful look and tight game play. I am stilll having a lot of fun playing the demo and I hope you try it out too. Personally, I love the parry. It is always satisfying.
Demo Days – Onikura
When I browse for demos, I occasionally do not read anything about the game and just download it. This is what happened this week. I thought the demo was sweet, but after playing it, I had no idea what it was about or what genre it was. Anyway, this week I cut demons down in what initially looked like a 2D soulslike, but then I found out it was a boss-rush game.

I usually fall in love with deckbuilders, and play them for a ridiculous amount of time. Release a mobile version AND FORGET ABOUT IT. Anyway, I played My Card is Better Then Your Card! and I think the Early Access is already off to a great start. Great game with fantastic art.
Early Access – My Card is Better Than Your Card!
There is something that always attracts me to deck builders. It's gotta be the prospect of building a cohesive, powerful deck that just destroys my opponents. It is addictive, and this week I am on the playground slinging cards with cool stickers slapped on them with friends. This week is my Early Access Review of My Card is Better Than Your Card!

Back on demos this week and I had a game on my demo backlog that I wanted to check out. Brew from @snowleafstudios.bsky.social is a roguelike partially about never giving up and following your dreams. The other is slamming potions down your gullet or into your gun for fun gameplay mechanics.
Demo Days – Brew
2026 is starting off the exact same way that it always does, with me browsing the demo section, avoiding porn games, quitting, and going onto Bluesky or whatever to find something to play. This week, I found another roguelike that is kind of rough around the edges, but was overall pretty fun. This week, I gained entrance to an Ivy League magic school because I attempted the test a record number of times.

After being sick for a week I decided to play Consume Me from @qdork.bsky.social and what a phenomenal game it was. I was excited to play this game for a long time and I was relatively satisfied. The ending stumbled a little, but the overall tone, great humor, art and music make a great game,
Dietary Restictions – Consume Me Review
Back in the New Year, I immediately got violently ill and had to put off this week's game. It has a lot to do with being a teenager and how the prospect of "looking good" defines every moment of your life. I can imagine that most have had a run-in with diet culture and the consequences thereof. I have, for sure, and I think…

Big fan of Consume Me. I should have played it earlier.

I TOOK OFF WORK TO COMPILE THIS LIST AND MAKE A VIDEO. This year was great! I had lots of fun playing game and talking about them. I compiled everything into a cohesive post alongside a video of me absolutely screaming at how fun this year was games wise.
Game of the Year 2025!
IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN. We played a lot of games this year, and I made an effort to catch up on any games I may have missed. I couldn't play everything, and I, for sure, didn't. I want to play Expedition 33, but I just haven't had the time (or the money) to play it. I have Arc Raiders installed on my computer, but I haven't yet booted it up; the same goes for Expedition 33.

It's high time that I play Hades II, because it is a Game of the Year contender. I am here to say that it is, in fact, more Hades. Everything you liked about the first game is back in the second game with more polish. Everyone is still so hot, its crazy.
Quick Thoughts – Hades II
It's getting close to the end of the year, so I had to play Hades II. I had forgotten that it was released into 1.0 in September. I kept seeing that it is just more Hades, which is fine, but could that be bad? I've already invested 12 hours into Hades II, so let's discuss it. PROS: It's more…

This week I went back in time and remembered that coin pushers exist. Raccoin from @raccoingame.bsky.social and @playstack.com is an interesting take on the deck building genre. The game is clever in its attempt to drip feed me dopamine, which it does very well. Superb demo.
Demo Days – Raccoin: Coin Pusher Roguelike
I remember visiting arcades in California when I was little and seeing a variety of coin-operated games, but they used tokens. It always seemed like a scam to a kid, but now that I am older, I see the potential profit of the machine. Mix that potential with roguelike aspects, and you get a game demo that I was incredibly fond of.

I dug into my back log this week and played Flock from @hollowponds.bsky.social and @A_i Aside from how beautiful the game looks, I had a lot of fun just flying around and charming essentially "hot dogs with wings" to fly around with me. A fun, cozy 3-5 hour experience.
Of a Feather – Flock Review
I had some free time to play a short game, which allowed me to dive into my backlog and play a game that I was super hyped for, but had never played. I enjoy birds and birding, so it was a natural fit for me to play this week's game. This week is my Flock review. Flock is a multiplayer adventure game from…

Big fan of Bloodroots so I KNOW I will be a fan of Tears of Metal from @papercultgames
I never played a Dynasty Warriors before but if this is the game, with roguelike stuff in it then I AM IN. Super fun combat, wide spaces to pummel baddies and good roguelike elements make this a good one!
Demo Days – Tears of Metal
Back into the groove this week. I never really played a Dynasty Warriors game, to the best of my knowledge, but if this is what I was missing, then I am game to play the hundreds of games available. This week is the Tears of Metal demo! Tears of Metal is a hack-and-slash roguelike from Paper Cult. The game is slated to release on Steam in 2026.

This week I played Slots and Daggers from @Friedemann_A and @futurefriendsgames.com It is truly a pleasant experience playing the game. exceptional look with pretty addictive gameplay that made me want to keep playing. A solid experience for the price, no doubt.
One and Done – Slots & Daggers Review
I think that I am starting to see through these gambling roguelikes. They get a hold of me and promise borderline infinite fun, but they don't deliver to the degree that I want them to, and I resent them for it. This week's game was the tipping point. This week, I played some slots, killed some baddies, and mindlessly searched for coins to upgrade my weapons to a bigger number.

I apparently had this demo in my Steam library for a long time, so I figured I should play it. This week is Wyrmhall: Brush and banter from @leafygames.bsky.social , a game about cleaning strange artifacts for strange people. I had fun with the demo to give the full game a chance when I have time.
Demo Days – Wyrmhall: Brush and Banter
I don't feel like I have had this demo in my Steam library for that long, but apparently, I have. School is starting to ramp up, and I have little time to play and talk about games. I am a fan of short games, and I am a fan of games about cleaning. This week is Wyrmhall: Brush and Banter.

I didn't play a demo this week because I am incredibly busy with school and general life. Anywho I played almost 10 demos and talked about them all in super quick succession over on my blog. Go look at that thing!

I played a bunch of demos this past week and I found the top 8 that I really really enjoyed. I played a volleyball game, a skate game, a climbing game, a spooky game, a platforming game and a slot machine game. I PLAYED ALL THE GAMES. Check it.
Steam NextFest – Top 8
This time, I have a little more time to talk about the overall games that I played, because I got to play a little more than usual (because I was on vacation). There is no order, just a rapid fire of demos that I really liked. 1. Slots and Daggers: From Friedemann and Future Friends Games. I think that this game was the most fun.

This week I shouldn't have played a game, but instead I played Last Report from @MonoPixelStudio It's a pretty good spooky game. I was so focused on just doing my job that I got spooked multiple times. The ending was a little wonky but the overall experience was great. I recommend it.
Cabin Fever – Last Report Review
I am currently on a stay-cation, and I was doing well, not playing any games and getting a bunch of homework done, but on Thursday, I played a spooky game that I thought should be brought up. I'm down to the wire and and I need to do the stack of reports on my desk before a monster comes and kills me.

I'm not addicted to gambling but I am addicted to CloverPit. CloverPit is just one of those games that you can play anywhere and enjoy 100% of the time. It is made to be broken and that is where the most fun comes from. Everything works and the game is only $10! It's the perfect toilet game.
Let’s Go Gambling FOREVER – CloverPit Review
I never go gambling; I just never have the appropriate amount of money to do it. I feel bad when I lose even something as small as $20, so I just don't do it. This week, though, I am trapped in a room and forced to gamble for the prize of a key to a fucking drawer. This week is the CloverPit Review…

Sushi Ben was apparently a VR game that released onto non-VR not long ago. I had a lot of fun with the game, despite reload save on more than five occasions. The story is absurd, the manga panels and voice acting make it go over the top for. A cheap, good, cozy game.
A Fish, and Bug Filled Manga Adventure- Sushi Ben
I keep saying that I have free time to play games, but it's more like little spurts of not wanting to do homework. I stumbled upon this adorably colorful game that resembles a manga about fishing and saving a town from an overly aggressive real estate agents. This week is my Sushi Ben review! Sushi Ben is a cozy adventure game from…

Skate is now in the friend-slop genre, and I will die on the hill. The game is really fun so far, and it is even more fun with friends. Jump off buildings and take flight or just hang out and skate by the water. Skate is great.
Early Access – skate.
It is 11am EST and I have an hour to sum up all the things I like about the new skate game. PROS: Multiplayer is the only thing I've ever wanted for this game. The open world is curated for skating. Everything can be skated on for God's sake. For whatever reason, they introduced better climbing than any Assassin's Creed game.

Sure, I have 10 hours in Silksong and I just got to the Last Judge. I don't need to fly through video games. I like hanging out with my wife on the couch and playing the game for an hour or two every night. Anyway, I put up some of my thoughts on the game so far. It's a lot of fun.
Quick Thoughts – A Measly 10 Hours in Silksong
Library school has me short on time so it's time for another Quick Thoughts. I feel like I've been playing longer, but it's clocked at around 10 hours. LET ME TALK ABOUT SILKSONG FOR A MOMENT. Pros: I am for sure more invested in the overall narrative because Hornet actually converses with the other bugs. rather than standing and staring at them all creepily.

I tried to gamble my way out of hell this week in the Clover Pit demo from @panikarcade.bsky.social and Future Friends Games. Good onboarding, an interesting premise, and the ability to take a piss and poop in the same room as the slot machine make for a really good video game.
Demo Days – Clover Pit
I had barely any free time this past weekend, and I still got in a small demo for a "never-ending debt simulator." I already live in one, might as well talk about another one. This week's demo is Clover Pit. Clover Pit is a gambling roguelite from Panik Arcade and Future Friends Games. The game is slated to be released at the end of September.

I freed up some time from school and Silksong to play the Last Report demo from @MonoPixelStudio A horror dad game? I don't know, I was having fun filing reports and not trying to be killed by a forest monster. The demo was great and the retail game is only $5 so I will be playing it.
Spooky Demo Days – Last Report Demo
I had an extra hour this week, between reading and doing library work, and so I dedicated it to playing a spooky demo. I had been eyeing a game that scratches the Papers, Please itch, and I am here for it. This week is Last Report. Last Report is a spooky game from Monopixel Games. The game was released in July 2025 for the PC and retails for $5.

If you head on over to my YouTube you can hear me absolutely NAIL the Snake Eater song. Anyway, I wanted to talk about one of my favorite games ever made remaster and it does not disappoint. It is everything that I wanted. Everything except the ass cover mechanics and stupid button prompts.
5 Hours In – MGS Delta Quick Thoughts
Metal Gear Solid 3 is one of my favorite games ever. I was 14 and I played the hell out of that game. I bought Delta the literal first moment. I've been playing it with my wife in the room, and I have some things to say about this video game. LET'S TALK! PROS: Even back in 2004, I think the game looked pretty good, and now, in 2025, the upgrade is exactly what I wanted.

I bought a new computer and have no idea what I am doing, so I talked about Celeste this week. I found it on my Itch.io library and decided to jump in and I am really glad that I did because the game is just so fantastic. Now I am on to the B-sides
Quick Thoughts – Celeste
Taking it easy this week, and I really wanted to play a platformer. I opened up Epic's launcher to then open up Itch.io and saw that 3 years ago I bought Celeste and never actually played it. I did and it is really good. Let's Talk Pros: Superb movement. I wanted to go fast, and I got to go fast.
