Small Copper (Lycaena phlaeas).

Actually in better shape than at first glance, as part of the left upper wing is obscured by the stupid leaf (and which the stupid photographer did not take into account when framing the stupid picture).

What a bird!
The bullfinch is such a shy bird and quite scarce where I live it is a great pleasure to have seen one today.

Lesser Celandine. Associated with the arrival of Swallows (Celandine is derived from the greek word for swallow).
No swallows yet but it is ushering out winter in the best way.

Male Lesser Spotted Woodpecker this afternoon, Bossenden Wood, Kent.
1st pic it's perched on silver birch and I could hear it drumming for 5 mins before I laid eyes on it. It was surprisingly well camouflaged against the bark and the shadows.

Poor old Parus!
It's lost feathers at the back of the scalp for some reason.
Hope they grow back.
It seemed healthy enough in the field, pottering around inspecting little clods of soil for food. At Knole Park, Kent yesterday.
