If you thought groceries were expensive today, it feels like Monday is going to usher in a new hell.
I don’t remember living in a reality before in my life where it felt like the folks in charge of my country didn’t give a fuck about people in my socioeconomic status/group, friends, and family.

It sits right with me to hear my state’s governor talking about protecting rights. If my friends can’t see this as being important, there is a huge gulf between our hearts.

For some reason during COVID, I bought a 20lb bag of kidney beans that kind of turned into a punch line for how messed up things seemed in the face of scarcity. Am I the only one feeling that way again?

I had a conversation with a coworker about gender identity and my thoughts on it. Something about working in a very small conservative town— I don’t talk about politics much. But I said what I said and hope some of it made an impact and got her thinking a little differently.

I guess I didn’t realize today was inauguration day and thought that was tomorrow. I usually do work in the kitchen with the radio on; I could not listen to the new president speaking for long. Later programming for MLK Day was a good reset and reminder of what I value…
