Daily Bread / Daily Zen ... Was reading c. 87 of the BCR this morning and just marveling at what a banger it is, and how many banger drops are within it, and then I redd this banger of a footnote and I'm like, "why TF would anyone care about sitting meditation after this?"

Haha, now this is interesting. Below, is a post (A) that exemplifies a smart person who is attached to forms and practices and blinded by their own greed, while (B) exemplifies a smart person who examines things critically and honestly and adds to the collective understanding with valid observation:

This is an excellent post about Zen.

You're not going to find this on any website teaching "zazen".

"Zazen" is like opium pacifiers from the past.

As an autistic person, I find it offensive when people try to "sanitize" autism by saying things like, "Let’s keep autistic as an adverb describing a medical condition rather than general traits or ways of thinking."

Is this opinion influenced more by my medical condition or by my culture?

Is it "Zen" or "Chan"? According to Wiki, and based on recent linguistic analysis, Old Chinese (around 600 CE) pronounced "禅" with a "dz(j)" as part of "禪那" or "dzanna" or "channa". So it was much more like "jhanna", which makes sense since it was a transliteration.

Me? I think "Zen" sounds cool.

A monk asked ZhaoZhou, "Master, when you hit someone, how do you know that you aren't mistaken?"

ZhaoZhou said, "To tell a dragon from a snake is easy, but to fool a Zen monk is difficult."

Zen is not about meditation and this misinformation has been spread for decades, if not centuries.

"Turning outwards to seek Buddha, practicing with attachment to characteristics, all these are bad dharma, not the bodhi-way"

I'm glad that Blue Sky is resurrecting old Twitter, but can we improve upon it too?

Can we get an "edit" feature?
