I can see no risks whatsoever with GP fit notes being replaced by non clinical review funded by ones employer.

No risks whatsoever.

None.

My 32nd working in the #NHS anniversary today.

(Currently going (v v v slowly) through reorganisation number 10)

Its hard not to conclude the handling of the #NHSE #ICB changes shows many of the traits of a #peoplelast belief system

Good to see #PMQs feature questions about #pharmacy and #dentistry

The #NHS is SO much more than acute hospitals.

When 5 UK political parties are polling between 15% and 26% you know FPTP has to end.

I guess all the folk saying 'yeah but in the UK #Giuffre was above the age of consent' support the grooming gang defence that 'in Pakistan they'd have been above the age of consent'?

I've commissioned General Practice in Devon for 33 years. I've moved organisation once, and been TUPE'd 9 times due to reorganisation

10th TUPE pending

Thats a lot of time, effort, cost, opportunity cost

Its that time of year where NHS staff are accused of genocide for administering the #covid vaccine, AND accused of genocide for not administering the #covid vaccine
October 8, 2025 at 3:01 PM
Its pretty clear the 25/6 #GP estate investment programme has been designed to underspend.

Isn't it?
September 15, 2025 at 6:57 AM
I wonder if @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social has evidence for saying 'most NHS staff support NHS league tables'?
September 9, 2025 at 6:24 AM
In the #SWW area a combination of ludicrous unit cost rise, unjustifiable standing charge rise, and removal of #labour govt support cos the old (lower) charges were too high means a lot of households are seeing bills rise by >50%

Will winter 25/6 be the year people can't afford to eat, heat, wash?

Looking at NHS ICB staff 'pulse' survey results.

I wouldn't say all ICBs are in an irreparable state. - but I think some might be.

😔

NHS annual survey suggests unpaid overtime equates to circa 54,000 wte.

No one should call that 'productivity gain'.

Its a failure and dangerous to design jobs that cant be done within the funded hours.

Blimey that's some uptick in #mounjaro #tirzepatide prices!
August 14, 2025 at 9:00 AM
Lucky its nothing important like say our healthcare system.
August 11, 2025 at 10:46 AM
Who'd be in charge of an ICBs running costs.

Cant afford the cost of imposed change. Cant not afford the cost of imposed change.

Further evidence, if required, change is best planned following engagement rather than imposed without planning.

On the day a former Tory PM whose life was saved by the #NHS brags about having private health insurance due to the condition the NHS is in after 14 years of Tory oversight, Badenoch thinks the answer is to disempower the workforce by outlawing NHS strikes.
July 27, 2025 at 1:55 PM
This is #NHS #leftshift has to be far more dramatic in budgetary terms than a slightly bigger share of growth sometime down the line.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting has defended why the Government is only paying for half the population of England to get an NHS dentist.

Sounds like #NHS #dentistry is shifting further towards urgent need focus. Without at least equal focus on maintain and prevent we risk ever growing urgent demand that will consume supply.

Already seeing supply shift from prevention to urgent need.

Major NHS change will see everyone get a dentist within next four years
Big win for the Mirror’s Dentists for All campaign as the Government commits to scrapping the “absurd” NHS dental contract this Parliament

made my way through the #NHS #10yearplan

It feels, perhaps unsurprisingly, rather like an updated 2008 plan.

Some good stuff, but:

1) it's v v broad, would narrower focus on high impact changes be better?

2) its so broad theres a lot that has little 'how'

Should a plan have little 'how'

If DHSC + NHSE execs is 27, and new proposed DHSC execs is 25, is there less duplication than we were told?
June 30, 2025 at 10:12 AM
Why do #dentists want to work in London so much more than Devon?

V different pattern to any other #HCP group.
