The new issue of LABOR is here, and it’s hot!
Amazing photo, and a little history lesson too.
This is one of my favorite photos - it shows collaboration between 3 of the most important Black leaders of the 20th century. Anna Arnold Hedgeman is often cropped out -- yet she was as influential as Malcolm X and A Philip Randolph. Here, she's identified as Rosa Parks! Please, learn your history!

A rare happy story: The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has restored its holdings of the works of the enslaved potter David Drake to his descendants, following the pattern of Holocaust art restitution, the first time a museum has restored a work produced by an enslaved person.
MFA Boston returns works by 19th-century enslaved artist David Drake to his heirs

Here's a question for you. In an 1838 letter, a man felt bad for two friends whose wives had some kind of condition. What is the condition he's referring to? Then he describes his wife as vegetatively powerful (fertile)? This is my greatx3 grandfather talking about my namesake, Julie Bayrhoffer.

The government is shut down, costing us $15 billion a week. Congress can’t meet because then a new member would join, democracy would be fulfilled, and the GOP can’t let that happen. Nearly half the historic White House has been destroyed. Private funds are paying troops. GOP rule sure is great!
