body hair drawing tips i put together very quickly for tumblr :)

a black and white cropped drawing of a shirtless man. the text reads: body hair drawing tips from someone that likes bears a normal amount. artists note: i'm gonna use my own OC for the visuals, but i recommend looking up reference first! everyone has different body hair; different thickness, layout, pattern, etc. two side by side drawings of a shirtless man, one flat colors and one depicting a diagram of how body hair flows on the body. the text reads: i often see people learning to draw body hair draw it all going the same direction, up and down. This usually looks a little strange - that's because body hair doesn't have the weight to fall straight down. instead, body hair tends to flow with the shape of the body. consider the center line of the bod as a convergence point, where the hair around it flows kind of like a rip current. two drawings of the same shirtless man, side by side. the one on the left is flat colored, while the one on the right is a kind of topographical map of body hair distribution. The text on the image reads: this already looks a lot more natural, but doesn't take density into account. Consider where hair might grow thickets on the body - this isn't universal, and will vary from person to person! This repeated double curved line pattern is my best friend. Remember! Hair grows everywhere! If you want to commit to drawing bears: very hairy people will likely have hair on their shoulders, upper arms, back, etc. Two drawings side by side, the one on the left is the same shirtless man, flatly colored, while the drawing on the right is a black and white close up of the previous image to zoom in on the lineart. The text on the image reads: typically, the denser the hair, the darker it will be. Adding a variety of shades is important to selling the look! I personally like to add density into the lineart itself, with the thicker black lines representing the densest areas. For someone particularly hairy, the hair will actually obscure the shape of things like the pecs and abs, so i will paint over or erase chunks of the lineart to show the hair is laying on top of the body. Lines should overlap, especially in the thickest areas.

I also support people who don't engage with any fictional stuff they dislike, and who are outspoken about what they dislike politely and civilly, without harassing or invalidating others.

Rereading 'The line is covered in Jellyfish' by @staroverlord.bsky.social while waiting for the next chapter, and I always think about how the first scene could have gone for Viktor.

I imagine with a sort of detached, sad acceptance of the fact that he is alone... until he isn't.🖤

From darkness, a gasp. Viktor lays on the snow, breathing heavily, having just come back into existance in the middle of a blizzard. As he sits up, blood drips from his forehead onto the snow. He touches the wound and examines it with a tired, detached expression. Viktor grabs his cane and gets up with difficulty. There are a myriad of thoughts that don't fully connect in the state he is in. He is cold. He is regretful. He has to find Jayc- As he looks up to take in the surroundings, he sees nothing but snow and mountains as the blizzard rages on. He is alone. After a moment of despair, the acceptance. ''Ah... Of course'' Viktor kneels, defeated, thoughts still not fully connecting, or maybe being kept at an arms distance. (It is what you deserve it is what you deserve it is wh) He is hunched from the cold. He closes his eyes in acceptance. He hears Jayce call his name. Viktor snaps up, surprised. Jayce is also here. Viktor sees Jayce's silhouette in the distance, he hastily gets up, reaches for him and finally calls back.
