He's the king, he's going to be greedy. It shows that even the gods, when ruled by a royal class rather than have a government of peers, will be subject to corruption and usually have their messes fixed by women
I'm sure there were things about other gods that didn't make sense. Take Zeus' greed for instance. How do you make sense of that?
