We’re down to small tomatoes left from the garden, but they’re still perfect for a salad like this. Chopped cucumbers, shallots, tomatoes, the last of my fresh garden basil, olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt and pepper, stir.So good, you cannot imagine.

Sorry it has been awhile since I’ve been here. Just trying to manage my busy life. I do come with good news. I FINALLY booked my first solo art show!!! I’m so very excited, so I’ve been trying to wrap my head around getting stuff done. It’s not till August so I do have time🤪🥴🤪.

We’ve had a rough couple of weeks around my family. Lost my sweet sis-in-law to lung cancer. I’m just gutted by this and crushed for my dear baby brother. She was way too young.

Had a small painting workshop yesterday. I’ll show the painting, AFTER I completely rework it. Was fun to chat with a couple of ladies and impart some knowledge. Tomorrow is the last day of summer but the green of my beloved Green Country is holding on. #summersend #fallisontheway🍁

Well, that was a different experience. I’m working with Derwent Graphitint XL Blocks. It was suggested to use water, which I did. I will surely play more with them. #derwentgraphitint #autumnleaves

When painting, it’s always fun to step outside the “color” box and play with values. Using black and white on one painting and ultramarine blue on another. It was a great exercise I did a few years ago and they are still a couple of my favorite paintings. #oilpainting #sunflowers #valuepainting

Gosh, this is what I stepped out and saw this morning. There’s a reason I wake with the sunrise. Makes my heart go pitty-pat.

Looks like I’m painting some yummy corn on the cob. Hmmm, makes me hungry and a desire to hold on to summer. Fresh vegetables, lots of sunshine, I’m a reluctant winter person. #painting #oilpainting #workinprogress #cornonthecob

Playing in watercolors this AM. Just to get the urge out of my system. Much more comfortable with oils, back to that tomorrow.

I took out the green apple in the front. Came in this morning and thought, “GOOD GRIEF, that apple is huge.”It was disproportionate the stage size of the colander, just huge. There was a reason I was struggling with it yesterday, wasn’t right.

Forgot to share yesterday. I finally was able to get back to it after letting sit, AND let me contemplate what was next. I put a nice glaze to warm it up and take the starkness of the white wall away. Just bugged me. It’s a big boy, 24x36, oil on linen. Now I have to find a title…thinking…thinking…

Finished. This is the last of a series I’ve been working on, 12 in all. My Gemini or ADD brain is over it, for now. I have an intense need to move on, thinking herbs, vegetables or fruit maybe.

Sometimes you capture the most perfect moments when sketching. You may dislike a good part of your drawing yet, that one sweet moment you create, becomes your favorite. Your eye constantly goes to THAT-one-perfect -moment every time. It may be small but can have the biggest impact.

Something I have not done in YEARS, shopping at the mall, today taking a grand shopping. I had forgotten the walking, the shifting from foot to foot, the waiting! We’ve made a ton of memories the past couple of weeks. The clothes, not much different than halter tops in my day. #backtoschoolshopping

I love having grands over. Remembered I had a couple cans of pie filling and MORE puff pastry in the freezer. So what do we do, we make baked pies (fried in my younger years!)

Walked by my bookshelf and grabbed this to read today. It’s been on my stack of books for over 50 years, think it’s time I cracked it open (may have read it in high school, but that was way too many years ago!)
