Mimi (1996) d Lucile Hadzihalilovic
Original title: La bouche de Jean-Pierre
The film is imbued with an overwhelming sense of hopelessness right from the start. The sofa scene is very uncomfortable to watch. Everything is drab and ordinary; the yellow and green palette amplifies the sadness...

Challenge the Devil (1963) d. Giuseppe Veggezzi
Odd one this. Fascinating video essay in the extras explains the background to the film's production. First 20 mins are a regular crime drama then the film becomes very strange and surreal. First watch for me but I found it intriguing.
