Trump Administration Cuts Disability Funding in Schools citing DEI. Impacting 7.5 Million students
According to Education Week, the Trump Administration has cut more than $30 million in special education grants to public schools. Since our son attended high school in Oregon,I wanted to share this news using information from that state: The U.S. Department of Education is ending grants to programs across Oregon that support students with disabilities, citing practices related to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Proof Change is Possible
My son was denied care because he had Down syndrome. Years later, two baby girls showed me that the system was finally changing — and that our fight had mattered. Growing up, my friends dreamed of being celebrities. They styled their hair like pop stars, plastered their walls with posters, and imagined the day they’d make it big. I always tagged along, but privately, my dream was different.

Ease! More! Again!
EveryBuddyIsGold.com is a space to share real stories about life with Down syndrome—stories that celebrate the joy, resilience, and everyday magic of our buddies. Please Share Your Story Nancy's post about her son, Alex, reminded me of George’s lifelong love of swimming. Pool time began when he was just nine months old. He wore a little yellow union suit with an inner tube around his middle, and that first summer he reveled in the freedom of floating, arms slapping at the water, squeals rising each time a splash hit his face.

Hello World!
Welcome to Every Buddy is Gold. I’m so glad you’re here. This blog arose from what I've learned while raising our third son, George, who was born with Down syndrome, life-threatening complications and a fighting spirit. Because of Georgie, I had the privilege of joining forces with five other parents to organize a grassroots event on a parking lot—what would become the very first Buddy Walk for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

I’m honored to feature the first story from my dear friend and fellow author, Nancy Schwartz, about her wonderful son, Alex pictured below with his brother, Sam. The pool metaphors abound. I’m deeply grateful for each day I have with all of my sons.
