In my whole life I've only ever purchased two records because they were playing in the record store. But I remember exactly what they were and where/when I got them which likely wouldn't be the case if I were less sales resistant.

Taylor Swifts "The Fate of Ophelia" captures the sound of 2001-era U2 better than anything I've heard. Listen without prejudice. Imagine Bono singing. You'll hear it. This is the only time in my entire life I've ever given this type of accolade in reference to my beloved U2 so you know I mean it.

Idea for a better writer than me: an R.E.M. think-piece that connects "Nightswimming" as a companion to "Camera" then distills them both through "Sweetness Follows".

The horn section from 2:39-2:55 in Foreigner's "Urgent" would be right at home on any number of Roxy Music songs not to mention a million bass/rhythm heavy post-punk records.

Bands taking photos in graveyards is so stupid. It's like, no one went and lived a whole life just to suffer the indignity of your dumb band lollygagging all over his or her final resting place. This goes for all the punk and goth bands I've liked in my life as well as my beloved Allman Brothers.

Out on the road today I saw a late-model Honda Accord riding on four spare tires. Yes, four little donut wheels. True story. The End.

The face of legacy media as it tries to hypnotize you into buying a fifth copy of a 40+ year-old record (complete with "newly discovered" studio floor sweepins!)

It's been 31 years and finally giving this one an honest listen. While he's 100% to blame for every audition-singer on Earth performing "Hallelujah" his version of "Lilac Wine" is pretty darn good.

The "whoa-oh-oh" parts of Uptown Girl are really something else. Especially when they're the pre-chorus. Steadily and confidently paced, uplifting, serving the song. Honestly, these seconds are my favorite bits of music in Billy Joel's entire catalog.
