So the #BirdOfTheDay for today is #least. Hmmm. Here is the only #photo I've ever taken of a #Forster's #Tern. I was at #Frank #Lake in #Alberta 🇨🇦photographing pelicans and a friend pointed out this #bird hovering above us. I got off this one shot before it dove. #birds 🪶 #photography #nature #wild

So for a #underrated #birdoftheday I’ve chosen a female #mallard (hen). Why? Because hand anyone a camera and tell them to photograph a “duck” they invariably take a #photo of a male mallard with its iridescent green head. But the hen is also stunning, no? #photography #bird 🪶 #nature #duck

Taken 10/25/25. A stream in Alberta, looking west towards the province of British Columbia. Mount Armstrong, which straddles the border, can be seen, dusted by early snowfall and partially enveloped by clouds. Mount Armstrong was named in 1918 after John Douglas Armstrong, a lieutenant with the Canadian Engineers 🇨🇦, killed in action in World War 1 on April 9, 1917, at Vimy Ridge. Taken 10/25/25.

I have friends who are excellent photographers who will not go to Nose Hill Park in #Calgary (the 4th largest #urban #park in #Canada) because, "there's nothing worth photographing there." To them, and to anyone agreeing with that sentiment I simply say, "Pshaw!" 😊 #nature #photography #fall #autumn
